Doesn’t look to low to me? It’s only 5 lbs. pretty expensive per pound compared to a 30lbs cylinder. More than double!

High prices forced equipment replacement or refrigerant substitution, in addition to equipment just aging out.

R-12 at a good price would be nice. I converted my classic Pontiac to R-134A about 10 years ago after I used my last one pound can of R-12. I had purchased several one-pound cans of R-12 back in the early 1990's and it lasted for almost 20 years. The R-12 blew like ice. The R-134A is ok, but I had to put an auxiliary pusher fan on the condenser to keep the interior temps down.

The refrigeration industry is now fully on board with the scam. I use to have 3 cans of refrigerant in my truck. Now 9 and 4 more in the shop. It is insane. Go back to 12,22,502 make it illegal to vent and have some kind of quality standard on equipment so it doesn't leak so easy

I am pretty sure it already is illegal to vent. Fines up to 250,000 and 5 years in jail. There have been numerous cases of prosecution.

I think many suppliers stocked up significantly before the ban of manufacturing/importing new took effect.

Possible, one of the enforcement actions above had a guy importing R134a cans from China that were actually filled with R22. It would be interesting to know how they found out?

I would think that they are looking at the supply houses and online retailers because they are more visible but who knows?
I don't commit crimes as I am too pretty to go to prison for anything other than dealing someone that is harming my wife or kids.
