Gregsmithequipment carries some also. I've just began pondering the notion of making my garage floor really nice too! I'm not terribly happy with my epoxy floor at our lakehome, so I'd like to do something fun for our homehome. Since i'm pretty much finished with my '67 Mustang and hopefully will not be doing anymore paint n body work~ I'd like a really nice garage floor and my Maxjax would look really neat then too!

Hi GregSmith does not carry RaceDeck, they offer a cheaply made China knock-off product. RaceDeck is proudly made in the USA, all under one roof in SLC, Utah.

Well, I'll probably be contacting you after I paint my garage then. Not much is made in the good ole US of A. I like the floor in your picture~ I went through your site and that is my favorite! I was just mentioning the "other" flooring just to be nice ; )
Now that I have your attention ; ) ~ I guess these floors hold up well to abuse? like floor jacks, jackstands, dropping heavy things on it? And may I ask how is the floor held down? (my brother was just asking me that question). Do I mount my lift on top of it or do I not? and if I have a rolling creeper seat to go beneath my Maxjax lift, will it roll over the little corregations OK>?
Thank you!

Jorgen,

Do I have to go to Salt Lake City for the flooring? I must be missing the link on your site to find a local dealer.

Thanks

Just go to RaceDeck site--eMail Jennifer Storms--She will hook you up---Discount for GJ folks--Makes it basically similar price to Costco.com and better colors choices, etc. I like the TuffShield™ tiles which you cannot get through Costco.
<BTW, Costco's tiles are made for them by RaceDeck>

Jorgen, the lifts can go on top off the floor unless bolted down, correct??

Has anyone used race deck for trailer flooring? Will it bend ok for the slight curve of the beavertail?

Jersey, I just installed a product called MotoFloor, $2.33 sqr ft from BigFloors.com, I'm very pleased with it, but I wouldn't recomend this for a Professional WORK Shop, i.e. if you plan to do a lot of welding, banging stuff around, etc. it's more for like a showroom shop. I'll post some pics of mine when I get a chance.

I'm glad you wrote about this~ I do welding, cutting now and then~ guess I'm just not ready for a show type garage floor~ guess I'll just stick with concrete surface for a while~ maybe epoxy may be an option.
thanks,

Well, it would work, just wouldn't be able to keep it nice and clean... I just posted some pics in previous, pretty clean right now...

Hi
You can put any 4-post lift right on top of RaceDeck, it can handle extreme roll loads. It will also give you a much cleaner look by doing this. The Floor is a full-suspension flooring that allows air to circulate underneath eliminating moisture issues found in garages. The floor is free floating and requires no glues or fasteners, just snap into place and trim. As for rolling creepers, chests, etc, RaceDeck's tread pattern makes for easy rolling and will handle vehicle rolling loads in excess of 50,000 lbs..

Thanks for considering RaceDeck

As much as I would like to see you purchase RaceDeck for inside your trailer, it really is not the right product. Our floors are free floating and with the shifting and heavy vehicles on top of the floor in a moving trailer may not be ideal. Now if you were placing our portable flooring in front of your trailer at event or races then its great.
Thanks again

Hi
I would place the lift right on top of the flooring. This way its a cleaner look and you have the option of moving the lift around the garage if needed.

Thank you Jersey, not only is the shop nice, here's what's on the other side that wall to the right... I told my wife I could stay out here and just not see her for a week or two at a time.... you know, just hang out in my ManCave, she could just bring me dinner, you know, a sandwich would do ever now an then... and you know what, she went along with it, it actually worked... I didn't see her for two weeks... then sometime late in the third week, the swelling went down just enough in my left eye that I could just barely see her.... just a little...

:wtf: :lol_hitti she's so sweet to mea... (LOL!!)

While I agree its a great floor for a showroom, I disagree you can't work on Racedeck. Yes, you have to be careful when you weld or use your plasma cutter or you will melt a tile :) but I have pulled many a motor and/or gearbox, done 2 full frame off restorations and I am working my 3rd all on my Racedeck floor. This current car required more work than usual on the frame and I did damage some tiles when grinding and welding but nothing bad and they are easily replaced, I did not replace most of them since the color goes all the way through you cant really see the damage, I only replaced a few really bad ones.

I also think that these tiles are way better to work on, way nicer on your back then very cold concrete. And if you use cooling fluid on your lathe or mill then the diamond plate tiles prevent slipping or if you spill oil on your floor, they are not too slippery.

Mike, sorry, let me re-clarify what I said (also see post #12) what I said was I wouldn't "recommend it", not that it wouldn't work at all for a work shop. I agree with everything you're saying, it is nicer to work on, much easier on the feet, damaged tile can easily be replaced etc., but it is easier to damage and keep clean than a simple epoxy coated floor. And, fact is, if your shop is a true professional work shop, you may not care that it's a little dirty, i.e. heck it's a "work shop" after all… All I'm saying is if you want the floor to remain "show quality", you'll spend a lot of time trying to keep it that way if you plan on doing a lot of cutting and welding over it.

What is the average cost per tile (sq. ft.) that people are paying for Race Deck? I know it depends on the actual style chosen, however I've seen the Diamond tile between $2.49 and $2.99 per tile with the edges at $1.99.

I'm planning on doing my garage using the freeflow where the cars sit(2.49) and using the snapcarpet where you would walk in front of and down the sides of the garage(3.45).

Maybe I missed it, but I did not see an answer to your Maxjax question.

A two post lift cannot be mounted on top of the Racedeck, or any type of composite tile floor. The compression load at the inboard edge of the floor pad on the jack will cause a failure of the tile allowing the jack anchors to pull out of the floor.

Thanks for the info. Can a 4-post lift, i.e. BendPak or Backyard Buddy be installed over Racedeck tiles? Both of these lifts have portable caster accessories to roll the lift around a garage/shop so they are not required to be bolted down, athough many owners still decide to bolt them into the concrete floor.

He is Correct on the 2-post lift, which should be installed directly to the concrete floor. A 4-post lift can and should be installed right on top of RaceDeck. This gives you a cleaner look and the ability to move around the garage if needed

Round off the edges of the lift casters !!!

My first time moving my lift on the casters left nasty cuts in my tiles, the outer edges were not that sharp but I still had cuts 2" apart on the tiles. I rounded off the edges and no issues since.

I am going to buy Race Deck for my garage. Has anyone put the flooring down right up to the walls? Then put trim right on top. Do you have to pull up the flooring every once in awhile to clean underneath? I am only installing the solid tiles.

I put mine down with the suggested 1/2" gap to the wall and then put 1x3 down over it as a baseboard which covers the 1/2" gap completely. As I put the baseboard down I used a shim to raise the baseboard off of the racedeck just a bit. Looks good but will have to wait to see how it works out since it's only been a couple of months now.

many people use these tiles in snow, lots of posts here already about it. And my tiles were down for about 8-10 years and never pulled up, floor was fine when i moved and pulled up the tiles.

Cutting the tiles is VERY easy, and trimming around a 2 post is not that bad, just takes a little time. Here are some pics of my 2 post with the Race Decking trimmed around it:

I must say, I love my floor. I just don't like the concrete work that is under it:mad:

I'm not really sold on any of the plastic floor tile systems. Racedeck is arguably the best, and I was able to easily and permanently mark up the sample tile by putting it under a loaded floor jack and under jack stands. It did withstand every chemical I have, but the marring is troubling. If i'm going to spend that much on flooring, I want it to last. I'd rather epoxy it.

Just remember that when welding and cutting on an epoxied floor, the slag is going to eat into the epoxy and damage the finish as well...

I am the first to admit that as great as I feel RaceDeck is, it's not a miracle floor. Cheap Jack Stands that have sharp angle iron legs will mark RaceDeck for sure, it is best to either use higher quality stands that have foot pads in them or simply place a solid flat piece of material underneath. Even the best floor coating /epoxies will scratch or chip, as will pretty much any other finished floor. The good news with RaceDeck is that you can simply remove a single module and replace
. and in most cases, we replace it for free. :)

As for chemicals "It did withstand every chemical I have" (referring to RaceDeck), I would test out any epoxy with the chemicals you may be using in your garage, or you may end up with a big mess.
