This guy had a booth at a car meet recently in Ft Lauderdale. He had his "race deck" booth all set up, tiles looked good... He said he installs race deck tiles but I checked his web page and there is no mention on who's tiles he installs.

He is charging $3.45 / sq ft installed, which isn't much more than my cost buying from race deck and installing myself (not worried about installing it). He said he buys in volume so could sell it at the same price "installed". Too good to be true? Can anyone identify what tiles he shows on his web page?

Thanks

I find it odd he can make money installing Racedeck. Children can do it.

Oh, I totally agree with you. I even removed a couple of the tiles this guy had put out on his display to see how easy it would be if I had to clean an oil spill, etc.

I'm just puzzled, b/c if it is RaceDeck at that price, installed? heck, let him do it. I know there are other alternatives and one of them is $2.49 / ft vs the $3.79 for the racedeck....

Um. Well you know it's too good to be true. You went to his website right and you saw that he writes grid lock tiles. Did you consider googling that to see how much he's adding? Looks like gridloc goes for under $2.50

I installed my own GarageTrac flooring and found the whole process quite enjoyable, start to finish. Even if I could have had someone else install for the same price as it cost me to buy the materials, I wouldn't have done it.

I recently installed a Racedeck floor, and I too thought it was kind of fun. Cutting the tiles took some time, but not too bad. It's the kind of job where you can see the progress you're making.

I agree with you guys, the fun is part of it. I guess when I posted this I was too surprised that he would be selling racedeck at an installed price so inexpensive, but obviously he isn't using "racedeck".

After all, I still don't know if I am going the racedeck route or epoxy...

His address says Ft. Lauderdale, his zip code is in Deerfield Beach, & his area code is Ft. Lauderdale. His map shows Holly Hill, a small community on the north side of Daytona Beach. Either he's confused or doesn't know how to use Google Maps. Either way I suspect his customer base is single &/or elderly women that want a pretty floor but have no skills or tools.

I believe what's happening here is a play on names. SnapLock industries is the parent company of RaceDeck. They produce not only the RaceDeck line, they also produce the GarageTrac diamond tile, GarageDeck coined tile, and the Grid-Loc coined and Grid -Loc diamond.

I don't believe there is a manufacturer of Grid Lock tiles. You can purchase the Grid-Loc tile as well as the GarageDeck and GarageTrac for as little as $2.29 a tile if you shop around and install it yourself.

We wrote about these type of quality budget tiles here.

If you PM racedeck, they offer a GJ discount.

Call Racedeck and see if they know this yahoo. If he is getting a discount because of the quantity he is buying, they would know him.
