Hey Gang

Plan to do a garage floor this year after years of procrastination...

No doubt Racedeck is a leader but I starting researching and seeing other players such as garage deck/trac and true lock.

Can you experts help me sort thru the pros/cons of the leading rigid tile systems please or point me to a thread/site that compares each?

Thanks!

Jeff

My OPINION, and worth what you paid for it.

I ordered samples from racedeck and swisstrax. I thought swisstrax was the better product, a little taller (which does a better job obscuring the concrete) and easier to replace the field tiles if damaged. That said, I decided that neither of them was as rugged, easy to clean, and inexpensive as the concrete. So I'm going with concrete, power troweled, densified and sealed. The tiles can then be put on that anytime if I change my mind. IMO epoxy is a **** shoot too. After reading a few horror stories about installations gone bad (even by experienced installers) that is not something I would want to try.

I have Racedeck, but I am not familiar with the Swisstrax product. I am well satisfied with the Racedeck tiles, good product, great customer service, and I got a discount and free shipping. Tough combination to beat.

You need to provide information on the size of your garage and what you plan on doing in it.

After looking around, I did my garage in Racedeck. Both the product and the customer service are excellent. The product is first quality and consistent. In terms of customer service, they answered all my questions promptly and pleasantly, and even shipped me a few additional tiles quickly when I found I was short. It is also very easy to install and looks great.

A lot of this depends on how the floor is being used. I went with RaceDeck diamond in my detached garage. What part of the country are you in, how is the floor used, and are you considering a solid product or a ribbed product?

I have been researching which floor to put down for my Route US 66 man cave and Race Deck seems to be the one most favored. I'm thinking of a red border and either the white or alloy and black checkered design. Any coments on keeping the white clean and should I use an underlayment. We will be putting golf carts not cars in the garage. I am leaning to Race Deck because they will make a Route 66 logo as an inlay and have been very responsive to my emails. Expensive but they have good reviews. Also how does one go about getting tge discount?

I used landscaping fabric for underlayment. Fastened ends with tape. For discount, just mention to customer service rep you are member of Garge Journal Forum.

Thanks for the info about the discount I have a 3 car garage so any price break will help. Anyone know how Race Deck compares to the Moto sold by Costco?

I ordered samples of Racedeck and SwissTrax. I ultimately decided on Swiss Trax Rib Trax. Ultimately, they are both great products. I just preferred the SwissTrax version.

My step father did the Moto floor from Costco. It's nice and very similar to Race Deck. I wound up going with Race Deck for the color choices and it's very close in price to the Costco product after the excellent GJ discount.

My Racedeck Free Flow has been down for 2 1/2 years. This is the third winter and I have no complaints. Mine is not exactly a working garage but I do use a floor jack and jack stands on occasion. The ice, snow and slush that her SUV drags into the garage just melts away and runs out the overhead door. The other half of the garage is where my restored '69 Mach 1 rests and it never sees snow and seldom sees rain. The Racedeck cleans up nicely with a soft bristle long-handled brush and the car wash soap that I use. Keep a magnet and needle nosed pliers handy for fishing out any small parts that you drop. Nice part is those small parts don't bounce and roll like they do on a cement floor. My best friend put down the coin top Racedeck last spring and loves it. CJ Dave

I really like mine with one exception; the garage opening faces due east and if the door is open for a few minutes in the morning, the floor buckles a lot at the garage door end. The floor returns to its original shape after it cools, but the first time will certainly get your attention. Yes there's 3/4 inch of space around the baseboard, I have not clearanced the area around the lift feet. I don't think it would matter, as much as it grows in direct sunlight.

Hi,
Take a look at our industrial grade www.supratile.com

These are oversize SOLID PVC interlocking tiles. Super heavy duty, and quiet to walk on unlike hollow type tiles.

20% discount to GJ members.

I like the look of Race Deck but I wonder about cleaning automotive fluid spills on it. On concrete I just use a little diluted Big Orange or Simple Green and I'm good to go.
