Just a note, ordered my race deck floor today. After much searching of the forum and visiting a friends house decided on the Diamond 12 inch with a pattern, Thanks for being such a great forum. I read all the comments about customer service re Race Deck.......couldnt be that nice... I thought but they are...... super easy to deal with .....hope to post some photos when I am done, tore the interior apart, insulated, new electrical and sheet rock, added a loft, and all new cabinets....... the floor will be the last touch

Sounds great. Looking forward to the pics. Take some before & after shots! :)

This is important to really show where the space came from to where it will be. Always nice to look back yourself as well. Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Just ordered mine yesterday too! I find the company great to work with and it's nice to know its made in the USA. Just hope you like your design. I think I chose version 14 of my original idea. Lol

Haha, their website designer is probably one of my favorite tools. Only thing I wish you could do more custom shapes as I have an irregular shaped 3 car garage.

Either way, I have spent who knows how much time figuring out a design...should I go with RD (over epoxy). Finally came up with a design using black, red, graphite and alloy that I really like. Install will be a bit more tedious but I think it will look nice and give me something different than the standard checkered design.

Just ordered mine as well and should be here Thursday. Unfortunately I still need to paint before I lay the RD down. Started a thread in the garage gallery and will post pics along the way

Are you guys laying down a fabric mat to cut down on the clicking noise? I don't know what to expect, but I wasn't planning on putting any down.

Depending on the type of RD tile you use, I've noticed that the Freeflow design hardly has any sound or echo compared to the solid diamond or circle tiles.

I have FreeFlow and the coin-pattern, don't remember what RD calls it, both on my concrete floor. I didn't put anything down but the tile, and I have no noise. Don't know what all the "clicking" stuff is, I don't have any at all.

I ordered all diamond. I don't plan to put anything down. I will post pics and reviews in a new thread later on. Don't want to steal this one.

I was reading on another thread the "clicking" has more to do with the levelness of the floor. My take-away from that thread was the more peaks & valleys your floor has, the worst the clicking noise.

With a solid pattern (dot, diamond, etc) it may be extra reassurance. However, because of the nature of the free flow tiles to let fluids drain below them I personally would not want fabric there just because it will be getting wet and I would think after years of this happening you will get a nasty collection of gunk below the floor.

I would love to hear from someone that has actually did it and lived with it for awhile.

The "clicking" sound that many refer to is the hollow sound of heals/shoes walking over the floor similar to faux or pergo wood floors.

The solid plastic tiles tend to have a louder sound when you walk on them vs. the ribbed or Freeflow tiles that have an open grate-like appearance.

I commented in an earlier thread where I performed my own "official and scientific" ;) test where I dropped a quarter on both a Racedeck Diamond and a Racedeck Freeflow tile. The sound of the quarter hitting the Diamond/solid tile was very loud whereas the sound of the quarter hitting the Freeflow/open face tile was barely audible.

Hope this helps. I'm planning on a Freeflow floor. (If I can ever decide on a pattern - I'm having too much fun on their design page)

I used two layers of fabric underlayment (landscape fabric from Lowes) beneath the areas of the garage with high foot traffic and left the area where I wash my car without fabric. The areas with fabric are quieter than the non-fabric areas. My RD has been down about 18 mos. but I've never pulled it up to look underneath. Landscape fabric is designed to get wet, so I wouldn't worry about that. Here's a tip: place your tiles in the hot sun for maximum expansion before you install them.
