Is there any type of less than permanent adhesive that could be applied to the floor before the tile it is put down that would deaden the hollow plastic sound that is made when you walk on the floor?

Good idea

What about the polyethylene foam roll material that you see as a wrapping for shipping?

For the few who do put an underlayment material under the RaceDeck we suggest the inexpensive landscape material ( poly material). It's cheap and readily available at most any major hardware outlet.
We do not recommend polyethylene foam roll, as polyethylene does not breath and reacts terrible with most all petro products.
