I am almost done with the installation of my RaceDeck floor. I just have some final pieces around the furnace, HW heater, and these steps...

I am wondering if it is best to try and remove the steps and lay full tiles and then reinstall the stairs, or just leave the steps in place and trim the tiles to fit around them?

The gap in front is about 10 1/2 inches and the sides are 5 1/2 and 6/12 inches.

I am also going to paint the steps with some exterior paint..hopefully it is durable enough for the abuse stairs take

I am not sure how the stairs are installed? but you can go either way. If you choose to remove the stairs and set them back on top of the floor, I would make sure you do not adhere them to the floor...as the floor must be able to move for expansion.

Thanks

My opinion, remove the step ,they should pull up and run full tiles underneath then put said step back, maybe even silcone down racedeck tile on top of steps,,,,,your imagination is limitless my friend,,,you came this far with the floor ,now make us proud ..and we wanna see it done(pics)
P.s I like the color combo............YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

I would build steps that fitted the gap between the tiles. It would look like the floor was made for the room.

This is what I did...However the guy who built this simple step used the 'belt and suspenders' method...Took quite a bit of prying to get the sucker apart
