Race Deck Questions

Considering race deck for my small two car garage. Having trouble deciding between solid and free flow tiles. I was going with solid until a friend recent shared he had solid for 8 years but had a smell in his garage from all the stuff that leaked through the cracks over the years. He parks two cars in his garage with rain half the year.

I only park one car in the garage just to charge it up every several days and am **** about keeping the garage clean and don't want to pull tiles up to clean of pressure wash or use the vacuum on a regular basis if I can avoid it.

Any insight from the race deck owners out there?

I don’t get the appeal. Those who have it seem to love it. I got 20 tiles and tried them as a test. Ended up pulling them out. Seems like they would accumulate crud underneath. Maybe my shop is just too dirty for nice things.

I’ve got 1000 sq ft of FreeFlow in my garage and I love it. I had solid tiles before in CA and they were fine. FreeFlow looks better, it is quiet, and it handles our few snow days a year here in Idaho. A good shop vac every 6 months keeps it clean.

I have two garages. One is attached and that is all FreeFlow. The other is detached and has solid tiles in the center with FreeFlow around the perimeter. If you are working on vehicles frequently then I'd advise solid in that location. I have found that solid does a better job for quick spill clean ups and retrieving small dropped parts. FreeFlow always looks clean unless you track mud or something like that in there. You will eventually have to vacuum it or hose it out. Solid can be swept or vacuumed and occasionally mopped.
