Race Deck- Twelve Years in a Pickup Bed

I've used Race Deck in my garage for years and have been very satisfied. I've also used it in pickup trucks to protect the bed floor. Today I pulled out the Race Deck to wash and snapped a couple of photos, which are attached. The section shown I've had in three different trucks over the last twelve years, and it has seen many different types of loads, everything from rusty old tractor parts, lumber scraps, heavy iron like snowplows and engine blocks, furniture and tools, as well as weekly dump run trash of all types.

Except for some scarring and some wear on the raised surface of the diamond plate, it is holding up well. I have noticed that very fine particles such as sawdust have started to find their way through a few of the seams near the tailgate in the area that sees the most wear but in all I plan to continue using this material. My pickup bed sees much more abuse than my garage floor ever has so I don't expect the garage flooring to wear out anytime soon.

Cool idea!

Any abrasion with the paint in the bed from vibration or sliding? Do you find any rusty spots after a few years? Does it ever want to "eject" at high speeds or do you have to attach it somehow?

Thanks for sharing. Thats a damn good use for it. I have a spray in liner in my truck, but I dont drag or throw some things in there cause I dont want to damage the liner like I have in my other truck. Putting some of this in there could really help out.

I have been wondering about my plan to use racedeck in a large checkerboard pattern with black and a lighter color...such as graphite vs alloy. The alloy color concerns me being a much lighter color than graphite...wondering if it will be much harder to keep clean.

Your tiles look real good, and the use in a truck bed must be a real tough test. What color are the lighter color tiles?

Is that like putting floor mats over floor mats?

It must be a nice truck :) I bought my truck with a slide in bed liner. I like it because it's slicker than snot. Tears the hell out of the bed though.

I have had both drop in plastic liners and spray in liners over the years. I really like the drop in liners, it makes loading and unloading easier and can take a beating. I like the look of spray in liners better, and they do keep things from sliding around better, but the plastic liner out performs it IMO. My current truck came from the dealer with a spray in liner, love the look but don't want big dings in the metal and torn chunks of liner material. I do use my truck as a truck, haul stuff in it, pull a trailer with it, etc. But at the end of the day I still would like it to look nice and not be all beat up. This would be a great option that would be easily removable when I want to, and can take the beating of the rough stuff put back there.

As far as floor mats over floor mats, LOL I keep towels over my floor mats to keep most of the dirt out of them.
