Racedeck/Autodeck raised areas/lips Bullnose?

I'm about to pull the trigger on flooring for my 3 car garage.

A big deciding factor will be how I can handle the aprox 4ft deep by entire width of the garage area at the back of the garage, which is raised aprox 1 1/2".

Basically, the parking areas are one level, and then, the last 4 ft of the garage, the area in front of where the cars park, is about 1.5 inches higher.

All concrete.

If this were bathroom tile, I could get bullnosed tiles for this area, but don't know what to do with this. Simply paint it Grey and leave it?

I haven't seen anything like bullnosed tiles in any of the interlocking tile products.

I'm probably going to do black/grey checkered pattern for the tile, so a 1.~" line of grey probably wouldn't look bad?


Ideas, thoughts, opinions?

There are a lot of different ways to do this. If you can find a distributor of Burke Flooring near you they have lots of colors in base moldings and bull nose that will work... Based on the colors you are using almost any carpeting store should be able to get you something close.

If this were my garage I would use a DiamondLife Product qhixh you can order direct from them. The other option as you mentioned, take the tile down to Sherwin Williams and get a paint that matches. I would top coat the paint with a urethane.

I have the exact same situation in my garage! I can't stand the raised part of it, I don't know why anyone would want it that way. Have you looked into having it leveled?

I'm hoping to do RaceDeck in mine. I will be very interested to see how you handle yours.

The more I look at it, the more I think I'm going to prep the strip about 6" in front to 6" behind the lip, then will epoxy/urethane paint it.



Next question:

How's a guy supposed to decide between Racedeck and Autodeck, when you're both such great forum members and both have such great products?

Can't even go by geography, as I have relatives in Utah (Morgen, Park Cities) AND Colorado (Telluride and Gunnison).

I think we all believe that if we all focus on getting the right products to the right customers and expanding the knowledge of the industry as a whole, the customer, and all of us will have enough left at the end of the day for a couple beers and a steak.
