New guy here. I'm looking at installing some Racedeck in the garage of our new house next month. What's the pros and cons of the diamond vs. the circle pattern.

Talk about timing. I ordered my RaceDeck on Father's Day. Ordered up 800+ tiles in diamond pattern. Got to thinking should have gone with the circle pattern for ease of cleaning. Called them up to discuss and possibly change my order. Spoke with 2 different staffers who both told me diamond is by far the more popular choice these days and that they have never had any feedback or complaints about the diamond pattern being more difficult to clean. They assured me both are easy to clean and maintain.
I stuck with the diamond pattern, should arrive early next week.

I'm in the same situation and was wondering also??

Both the patent diamond and coin pattern treads are engineered to be easy to clean. The design allows any dust and debris to be easily swept up and not have it get trapped within the tread surface. It really comes down to which pattern you prefer based on cosmetics

My first samples were the diamond and then I requested samples of the coin. I tried the dust pan and sawdust test. I ordered the coin just to make it a little easier on clean up.

I also plan to put the few diamond samples I have scattered around for people to look for... Why be normal?

I will probably go with the diamond tread when I place my order later this year. I have many Gladiator storage units, cabinets, etc. and they have the diamond tread so I think it will match up better.

I agree that it's pretty much a cosmetic decision only.

I wish the coin had been available 10 years ago when I bought my Racedeck. The diamond is fine if you do woodworking, its easy to clean. But change out 2 gearboxes, rebuild a motor and the grease that you tracked all over the floor is a ***** to clean from all sides of the diamond.

I end up using lacquer thinner every now and then to clean up the tiles on all sides of the diamond plate. If you don't do something dirty and its just dust, etc. the diamond cleans up fine but I imagine if you actually work in your garage I imagine the coin cleans up much better/easier.

Thanks for the feedback. Still not sure. I'll have to look at the many nice Racedeck floors posted here to make my final decision.

I had the same problem and finally decided on the CircleTrac. Since the Diamond Pattern is on just about everything now a days, I went with the CircleTrac just to be different. I like the way it has turned out. Gratuitous car shot doesn't hurt does it?

Looks like you made the right choice as that looks really good to me. Is that black and alloy or graphite and alloy?
Sweet ride you got there!

I went for the coin drop, the potential for grease, oil, mud to collect in the edges of the diamond pattern was more that I wanted to deal with.

Graphite and Alloy. I thought the black might be too easy to show footprints and dirt.

I went with coin pattern...mostly because diamond is the most common choice.I figured I would try something different. In terms of clean-ability, one may be easier, but I think the cleaning effort difference would be imperceptible.

I used the coin pattern.Had it in for 14 months so far.Took it out last weekend to clean the floor of fine sand etc which accumulated under the tiles.I park both of our daily drivers in the garage for the winter (Corvette stored at the neighbors for the winter)& the slush & sand worked it's way between the tiles.Probably due to a very slight contraction due to the cold.If I had to do it again,I'd use the free flow style of tile for ease of hosing out.Garage is 22 X20".Coin pattern is very easy to wash, mop up.My C6 is always washed in the garage.

Does the coin pattern have the same amount of raised sections as the diamond pattern? It seems as though there are more coins than diamonds for each 12" X 12" piece based on the pictures. :headscrat

you took the whole floor out to clean under the racedeck? That is exactly what I don"t want to do. I was looking at the free flow but was afraid the small items like nuts and washers would find there way under the decking then how to get them out? I also am a little puzzled by people putting a under cloth on the garage floor before laying the racedeck, what happens when it gets wet?

A newbie with common sense :)

I never took out my Racedeck and my garage flooded twice in 8 years. I removed my tiles when I moved and the floor underneath was as good as new and put the tiles down in my new garage, they will be there until after I am dead this time. And the cloth underneath is for people who are worried about some barely noticeable noise from the tiles as if noise from the tiles is a concern when working in the garage.

I didn't even think of the cleaning issue. Thanks for posting! I should order some samples of the diamond plate and the circles and do a dirt, oil ,as well as drop screws, nuts and washers test.

I would not go with the free-flow due to things falling between and trying to get them out.

Can anyone comment about how the various patterns affect rolling casters across the floor? This has always seemed like the fatal flaw in these snap-together floors (attractive though they are).

Our patent top tread designs allow carts and wheels to roll over easily and without hopping around like on an old gravel road. The treads are not very high, but high enough to add another level of slip resistance. ( both diamonds and Circletrac)

Just a clarifying question. Am considering Racedeck and all the other floor solutions for my 3-car, which also has a C5 'Vette in it. When you say removed, you are referring to the entire Racedeck surface in your garage or just pieces of it??

Also, did you consider the drain pattern tiles at all for just sections of the garage?

Thanks in advance for the additional information. (BTW, nice car....you've got one of the two allowable Corvette colors.:) )

See ya, :hellobye:
