Currently in the process of having a home built with about a 700 sq ft garage. I’m pretty set on going with Racedeck flooring, but unsure of whether to go with the free flow vs a solid option such as the diamond or circle.

Living in the northeast from what I read free flow would be the best option due to the weather. However, I’ll also be using the garage as a general workshop for anything from changing my oil (potential for accidental spills) or cutting wood/metal for various projects.

With that said is free flow still the best choice or should I go with something solid?

I’ve had garages with Diamond tiles and now FreeFlow. My Diamond tiles were in CA where weather was never an issue. Now in Idaho where we get snow, the FreeFlow is perfect. My CA shop had a full wood turning area, so the solid tiles made cleanup easy. I have since eliminated the wood shop.

Maybe do a mix of both and consider solid tiles in your work area and FreeFlow where you park vehicles?

I have FreeFlow in my garage. It was a no brainer for me once I walked on both in an actual garage. The FreeFlow is dead quiet whereas the solid has a little click to it even with underlayment. Some people might never notice it but I'm OCD about sounds like that. The other thing is dirt shows up way easier on solid tiles. The FreeFlow always look good and I just blow out or vacuum the floor once a month or so. In the warmer months I can just hose it out. The solids would have my OCD side sweeping/mopping all the time. Aesthetically the FreeFlow is hands down the better choice IMHO. Mine is a working garage,

I have had the diamond solid Racedeck in my garage for a decade now. I live in Oklahoma so see all kinds of weather. Best decision I made. So easy to mop or squeegee the floor when it gets wet.
