Thank you RaceDeck.

Attached are photos of the RaceDeck FreeFlow XL we installed this week. What a great product! My two sons and I did this job with ease and it was fun to do.

We installed 2000 square feet of RaceDeck FreeFlow XL in the 3 car garage and shop. The shop area is attached to the garage through a sliding barn door. The people at RaceDeck were great to work with. The product was shipped as planned and was very well packaged. We used a table saw for the trim work. Overall this was a very good experience with excellent customer care. The finished product created a great looking garage/shop floor to match our new home.

kdrichter....great looking floor. I like it. How large is your shop area as I see you have a Big *** Fan in there.

BTW....Welcome to Garage Journal. If you would be so kind, could you put your location into your profile? No need for a city, but a state would work. It helps when certain questions are asked or answered. We have quite a few member from across the pond and from down under, and it also helps them out when answering or asking. Thank you

Looks great, BUT for what the stuff costs I can redo the concrete floor with new. I could never justify it for my shop. I'll be using the new concrete in mine.

I would never question the wisdom of a senior member with over 2,000 post but Racedeck cost 2.99 a square foot and free shipping as a member of Garage Journal. The quality of Racedeck and their level of service is outstanding. I just poured several thousand feet of concrete and it cost $4 a foot and then you have concrete not nearly as neat as Racedeck.

I have 3 main reasons for choosing FreeFlow. 1. FreeFlow has a better look when laid than the solid tile in my opinion. 2. FreeFlow is self-draining so I can wash it and not worry about water standing on the solid floor. FreeFlow is not slippery when wet. 3. The last reason is dust and other material can fall through the FreeFlow. With my high capacity "Hide-A-Hose" built-in vacuum system I can easily vacuum any material that gets between the openings. Since dust, dirt or grit will fall through the openings of the FreeFlow it will always look clean and new.

Love your floor!!!

I am building a 1,400 square foot garage currently (26'x54') and am looking for a solution (either epoxy or some sort of tile) for my project.

My question(s) are do I need to seal the floor first then put down race deck? What happens when fluids spill on the floor? Do they slowly seep through the cracks/joints of the tiles and then eventually end of a mess on your floor below. If it was sealed it would be easier to clean later if/when I pulled up the floor.

Another one. If you have a car on dollies or a rotisserie how hard is it to roll? I would think it's easier on cement but the race deck material seems pretty sturdy as well. I want to do this once and not do it again for at least 15-20 years so trying to do it the right way now instead of creating more work later for myself.

Any advice is appreciated. I love your color scheme also. Which tile did you go with..? I know they have glossy options but your's doesn't look that shiny.

Thanks,
Bryan

I don't think putting down a sealer on the floor is something you MUST do, but it would be a very good idea if you did. I didn't do it because I wasn't aware of it at the time I put down the Racedeck flooring, but now that I am aware of it I wish I had done it. I suppose I could take up the floor and put down a sealer, but that seems like an awful lot of screwing around. IN all fairness though, I don't get the floor wet because I use the garage as a woodworking shop and not really as a place to park the cars so I am not so sure a sealer is as important in my case as it might be for someone else.

If I change oil in the cars in the garage I put down a tarp just in case I spill some oil. But I have found that if I do spill something on the floor and I wipe it up right away, it doesn't go down between the tiles. If I were to leave the spill there for any length of time it would no doubt work its way down between the tiles and end up on the concrete. But I am careful and if I do accidentally spill something I wipe it up right away so it has never posed a problem.

I don't have a car dolly but I have used a cart with steel wheels to move my lathe and my milling machine and they are VERY heavy. I had no problems at all with moving them and the steel wheels even with all that weight did no damage to the Racedeck flooring at all. Of course the size of the wheels and the width of the wheels will no doubt be a factor in this.

When I first contacted Racedeck about flooring for my garage I didn't know what to expect. But what I found is that the customer service at Racedeck is wonderful. They are very easy to deal with and they are extremely accommodating when it comes to sending out free samples so you can check out the product before you buy.

The costco version is a less expensive/durable product. If I'm correct the Costco (race deck) has a 12 year warranty and the race deck has a 15 year... I could be wrong.

The benefit is they sell for roughy $2/sq ft when on sale. The only issue is they have minimal color selection.

My question is can I buy race deck version where I want color borders then buy the costco brand race deck for the majority of the floor and save some $$$?

Thanks,
Bryan

I think I saw somewhere that the motofloor from costco is a little bit thinner than the race deck product.
