Racedeck Flooring Question

Hey everyone,

So I've been browsing a number of threads here, and a good number of people went with RaceDeck for their flooring in their garage. It looks fantastic- I just wanted to ask a couple questions.

When you install these tiles, how close to the edge of the garage door do you guys install? Do you leave a tiny bit of the garage floor bare where the garage door meets the floor? Do you install RaceDeck tiles around the garage door railings where the railings meet the floor? If so, how did you go about modifying the tile to install tightly around the garage door rails? Is there any flooring that you left bare?

Figured I'd ask some veterans here with some experience before dropping the money for this. I assume each setup in terms of price is completely subjective as each setup is probably completely custom?

Thanks!

You want to leave 1/4"-1/2" for expansion around all the edges where the tile will meet immovable objects such as walls, garage doors, cabinets that go to the ground, and etc. Be sure to account for the beveled edge ramps at the garage door when you do this. You can cut your garage door rails 5/8"-3/4" off the floor to clear the tile. The rollers in the guide rails don't go all the way down that far so you will be fine.

Wow, very cool to see RaceDeck actually respond here at GJ! I didn't know you guys were here, or I'd have just PM'd!

Yeah, my wife and I want our garage to look really nice, and we browsed a couple garages here that have your flooring - particularly dubber's single garage, and we're very impressed with what we see. We'll be in touch with you soon for sure.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to us!

Make sure you post up pics when done.

Sure will! I will probably go a simple checkerboard pattern or something similar so when I move into a home (renting a townhome on WPAFB property now), I can just expand the pattern out!

Lots of great threads on here for reference. You can also check mine out. G/L

Yours was actually the one that made us decide to pursue this option. We loved what you did with your garage - GREAT job !!

I installed RaceDeck in our three car garage last month. I would advise that you not be too conservative with your design. The only regret I have is sticking with the status quo checker board pattern (alloy and graphite with a black border). The cool thing about RaceDeck is my mistake can be fixed easily and rather cheaply by ordering a few colored tiles. Don't be afraid to be original.
