Will be ordering my racedeck flooring soon. Right now, I just put a whole new craftsman setup in my garage(Tool Bench, Cabinets, Tool Chests) and have a mount ordered for my flatscreen :)

I can't wait to post up the before and after pics. I'll be contacting Jenn directly for the GarageJournal Discount :)

P.S. I thought my garage was unique until I stumbled on this forum from another forum I'm on. Much respect to some of your setups that are giving me inspiration

Will be looking for your pics!

I finished my garage a couple of weeks ago, just in time for the arrival of the new electric car! I'm really happy with the Race Deck flooring, piece of cake to put them down. The diamond plates were a bit harder to install.

Here are some after pics (sorry, no before).

I use the backup camera of the car to position the car in my garage, the red tiles tell me where to park. Here's a picture of what it looks like on the screen.

The wall cabinets all came from Ikea, they are basically their kitchen cabinet line. Plenty of choices for the finishes-- unfortunately the high gloss deep red they don't carry anymore.

The metal tool chests are Husky, from the Home Depot.

I'd like to know what it would cost to go racedeck flooring on a 19' 8" X 25' 8" (one side), 23'X13' on the other side.. all one garage floor.. two colors? how do you get a quote from these folks?

Probably between $2,000 and $2,500. Contact the manufacturer, Snaplock Industries, the owner has posts on this forum. There is a nice discount for members of this forum.

I want to say that i want to make a deck floor but i have no any idea how i can make it if anyone know here than share here with me....????

It's pretty straight forward, measure your garage floor, design a pattern (there is a cool tool for that on www.racedeck.com), order the tiles and when they arrive lay them out.

They snap to each other and float on the existing floor, no need to glue them. I laid my floor in about a day. The bulk goes in fast--90% I installed in less then an hour.

The real work is cutting the tiles to make them fit around the edges, especially if you have pre-installed cabinets, steps, etc. that you have to get around, like in my situation.

There are great installation instruction videos on YouTube as well, just search for RaceDeck installation.

I installed RaceDeck in the front 8' of my 28'x 32" garage seven years ago and I covered the remaining floor with ribbed vinyl mats. My floor under the vinyl were always wet. This caused unpleasant odors. So last spring I replaced the vinyl mats with RaceDeck. I love the design feature provided by RaceDeck and considered many options. Living in Minnesota I was concerned about the sand and salt in the winter but it was not an issue in the front 8' which I did in the checker flag look. The white tile cleaned up like new each spring. I will post pictures before and after I clean the floor in a few weeks to show how well the RaceDeck holds up to the MN winter. RaceDeck provided excellent and timely service which was very impressive. I also installed Moduline cabinets. My garage is the envy of the neighborhood. I needed to install a large flat screen tv so I could spend more time in my garage. I obviously am very happy with how it turned out.

Well, here is the completed garage. I wish I had before pictures. Imagine old metal and wood shelves and dirty concrete floor. Totally redid the garage with new cabinets, new electric sub-panel for my Tesla and of course Racedeck flooring. Took about 2 hours to do the floor, which was the faster part of the build! I love it.

why do you have to drag everything out to wash the garage ? In 10+ years of having Racedeck I have not done that and when I moved a few years ago, i took my Racedeck with me to the new house, the old garage floor looked as good as the day I put the tiles down. I find my Racedeck to be maintenance free, sure once a year or so I scrub it clean and if it was concrete I might not do that but other than its just a floor. A awesome looking one :)

Even though right now I am upset with myself because of my floor, I still would not have anything else in my garage. Upset because I had to weld up and install a new exhaust on daughters car over the weekend and MIG splatter damaged a few tiles under the lift, I am upset at not putting down the weld blanket first. When I weld is the ONLY time I think about my floor (and I obviously did not think yesterday), other than that its just a floor, hose it down when you want and smile as you look at it.
I did the same thing and havent fixed it. It only makes me mad when I clean the floor and wax it.

Sawdust so far seems fine. I had to do some cuts for finish the garage and had a decent amount of dust and it swept right up. No issue with the lines in between the panels. I would recommend!

Your garage looks sweet!

I am debating: I am doing a black border; however, I am torn between alloy and graphite. I originally wanted to go w/ graphite.

Jason(or anyone else), why did you choose the alloy over graphite. One is just a darker gray than the other. Looking at your floor has me torn :dunno:

Actually my floor is graphite. I love the dark color because it works well with my cabinets. Any choice is great though.

Friend of mine who recently built a house Race Deck'd his whole garage. I had been considering doing it for some time myself, and finally pulled the trigger on it.

I have to say, since doing so... it just makes the place look so much better than bare slabs of concrete, it's really motivated to do some more garage upgrade work!

That's graphite?!?!? It looks alloy from the pictures!

Maybe the tiny sample I got on my keychain didn't really compare well with the actual tile... Or... It just looks different contrasted with the black.

Either way, Nice garage. Seeing yours and what graphite looks like compared to the black, I'll still go with that color scheme. Can't wait :)

Here's mine, just finished so I'm plastering pics everywhere as I'm really happy with it...

Dubber your garage looks great! I was wondering if you ever lose small stuff like nuts or bolts through your floor? It may be a silly question but that's the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger. Thanks

Question-
I have been back & forth with Racedeck & like the product. The girl I have been talking to, although has spent a lot of time giving me designs & quotes, is fairly rude & careless & seems to only pay attention when She thinks I'm ready to order.
Swisstrax has been very on the ball, but I like the Racedeck for my particular application.
When I call, they ask my State & send me right back to Her.
I would hate to have a warranty issue or a problem with the order & deal with Her.
Is there any way to get a new rep??

Welcome to the GJ Forum ! I am surprised to hear your experience with one of in-house salespersons, if you do a search here on the forum the feedback is overwhelmingly positive over the many years here on GJ with our customer service, sales, products, etc... that said, I am sure there are times when we may get it wrong and thank you for letting us know. Please PM Me with whom you were working with and I will have someone else follow-up.

I know Race Deck is a great product but I chose to get mine here: www.bigfloors.com

I think it is the same stuff basically, more reasonably priced and the sales people are very nice. I ran short about 12 pieces of border at my garage door and they sent them to me free of charge. It cleans up great and it really made my garage look fantastic. My neighbors envy me! Sorry I can't post a pic, I need to resize but don't know how.

Agreed this was a one off occurrence. I've experienced and read nothing but positive things regarding RaceDeck's customer service and products.

I don't know how many times I called RD and had questions prior to making up my mind. Great service. Can't say enough good about anyone there I dealt with.

American-made product, high-quality tiles, patient and knowledgeable pre-purchase service, great after-purchase service, GJ discount.

Hello all, new member here and looking into Racedeck for my 20'x19' 6'' garage. As they are 12"x12" squares, the last 6" is a problem for me. I see 3 options for my floor.

1. Go with 20'x19' grid and have nothing on the last 6".
(Would this become skewed and unstable without the walls to hold it together?)

2. Go with 20'x19' grid and rip down 1/4" plywood to 6" to shim the open space.

3. Go with 20'x20' grid and cut the last row in half.

What would your choice be and why? If you have experience with this conumdrum please let me know. Any pictures would also be appreciated. I'm inclined towards option 1 or 2 for the reason I can't see buying 20 tiles and immediately slicing them in half. Also bear in mind the majority of this side of the garage will have shelving units on it. Thanks for any input you can give me.

I had a space left along two walls intersecting in a corner. I decided to cut tiles. I believe it was just about in half. Something like that. Looks great, very easy to cut. Realize you want a space left to allow for tile expansion as weather heats up. I left about an inch or so. Truthfully, I never even notice that space. And you need it. So, no, you don't use the wall to hold it together. You want that expansion space at each wall or obstruction. When the tiles are all together in a mat they don't move [except the expansion/contraction with temp. change] or at least mine have never done so.

The tiles are quite easy to cut. There are any number of methods if you search here. I experimented with an extra tile, just to see how it would go, and used a jigsaw with a fine-toothed metal cutting blade. Worked great. Some folks use a table saw or whatever. In my installation, the jigsaw worked fine.

Steve,

Thanks for the quick reply. I just don't like the idea of cutting a ~ $60 worth of tile in half. Just checking the RD website and the tiles are 1/2" tall not 1/4". So I could do 1/2"x4" scrap to fill in the gap and still have 1"-2" expansion. The edge on that side would be mostly covered with shelving units so it would not be visible. Food for thought for me.

Just thought of another question. Lets say a middle tile is damaged...

Nevermind... Did some more checking. Looks like a middle piece is easily removed with screwdriver or putty knife. Excellent Feature!

Race Deck says to leave 1/2-3/4" room around it for expansion.
You have the option of putting the 3" trim on as well. Depending on how exact that measurement is you might be able to put 3" trim all around, or on one side leaving room for expansion.. Also depends on if its in sun how much expansion you need, I am guessing.
Plan to lay some tiles in sun tomorrow and measure before/after just to see..

Well, my turn to post a picture!
I am going to be working on my own garage thread, but until then..
Inspired by Matty D I went on the hunt for budget tiles. After a call to RaceDeck and finding out the GJ price, which while great I am always an "incredible deal" hunter. Craigslist I went. Local liquidation place had some listed at $2/tile, but when I called they said they were gone, BAH.. Week or so later they refreshed their ad so I went by on my way home from work on Friday and found them up on 2nd to top level of pallet racking.

When I walked in I was told everything is 30% off tagged price. $96 - 30% = $67.20; They had six boxes, $403.20, I asked if they can do $400 even and said yes. After 8% tax Out The Door at $432 for 288sq/ft of Alloy tile!

Went back the next day to pick it up in wifes 06 Civic (was on my motorcycle when I went by), barely fit, 5 boxes fit, had to take them out of the last box. I stayed home from work today feeling sick, boredom got the best of me and I went into garage to clean the warehouse dust off them. Found the original order/packing slip from March 2004, ship ASAP!! While cleaning the tiles I discovered that they are NOT all alloy, had 80sq/ft of Graphite, and a surprise 18ft of female edging! SCORE!

I had a few sample tiles and "Viper" tiles I ordered from sears. Free-Flow, White Coin, and 2 edgings were not used.

Now for the pics..
Before, with stacked tiles.
IMG_20140324_123817.jpg

All installed. You will see what the Pink tiles are for in next pic..
IMG_20140324_152954.jpg

Marks for the wifes bike! Plan to order some yellow ones for mine.
IMG_20140324_154612.jpg

Its hard to tell in the pics, but fridges, safe, toolbox, workbench, back storage, etc etc are all outlined at this point.. Will need to find more tiles, hopefully at a steal of a deal again.. Not sure what the final plan is, but with the surprise of graphite this was the best I could come up with.
