After spending a few months deciding what I wanted to do with my garage, and in particular with the flooring, I decided to go RaceDeck. Thanks to this site I was able to get most of my questions answered prior to ordering and anything else that remained I contacted them directly (Ashley was super helpful) and they were fantastic, including the discount for being a garage journal member.

I have a three car tandem garage. Both my wife and I park in the garage and I utilize the tandem section for my work benches, shelving, cabinets and my 2015 Harley Davidson Wide Glide.

While designing the flooring it was very easy to utilize the RaceDeck template online to try out multiple designs. I finally decided on having two sections of the garage.

The main section, where the cars are parked, I decided on the Free Flow with a border of Graphite with inset black rectangles, with the interior of the black rectangles red. I couldn’t be more happier with the selection. For the walls, I painted red on the bottom half, while on the upper half, with a black racing stripe. All I need to finish this section of the garage is about a 3x4 foot Utah Utes logo (drum and feather) which a friend of mine will create with their vinyl machine and it will be finished. It looks great.

The tandem section, where I park my Harley, I decided to utilize the Harley Davidson tiles, I used the black tiles as a border, with the alloy and orange as a checkered inset. To keep the style as the main section of the garage, I painted the lower half harley orange, the upper half Harley alloy, with a black racing stripe. I had taken the alloy and orange tiles down to Home Depot to color match. I can’t say the color turned out quite like I was hoping, a little darker than desired, but I wasn’t about to paint it again.

Each section of the garage had between 12-16 inches of a stem wall and I grabbed a gallon of grey epoxy paint at Home Depot and it really looks good. I painted the floor about one inch from the stem wall in anticipation of the RaceDeck gaps. That turned out to be perfect and looks great.

Now that the paint and flooring were complete, I picked up the FlowWall special on Costco that came with 48 square feet and a variety of hooks. I installed the 1x4 sections in different corners of the garage to maximize some additional storage and didn’t cover up the paint job I just completed.

As far as my work benches and shelving, most of that came from Costco over the past few years. I have two large Whalen shelving racks which are fantastic. I also have the 72” Whalen workbench as well as the 72” high and 36” wide Whalen cabinet, as well as an additional workbench that I made. I plan on replacing that workbench with the 48” Whalen workbench as well as adding two 36” Whalen cabinets above the workbench in the back.

Now I’m wondering what my next project will be....
