Has anyone used RaceDeck for an exercise room floor.

Was looking at interlocking mats made for that. Ones I looked at were imported.
Started reading reviews, had some said they had a bad chemical smell.
My nose would pick that up instantly.
Would imagine like the smell at Harbor Freight.

Made me think of RaceDeck. Made in USA probably doesn't smell.

Thanks

My wife has 5/8” foam interlocking tiles in her gym floor. Under her spin bike we put a thick rubber mat that we got from tractor supply.

I have Swisstrax in my boathouse and love the product for that use. I incorporated both free-flow tiles under the boat trailer and solid tiles in my tackle prep area. Couldn't be happier.

However I wouldn't ever use this product in a gym. The tiles would be very noisy, and the trailer tongue jack has left a very noticeable indentation in one of the tiles. Something which will likely happen with the feet of a heavy piece of gym equipment.

I built a home gym a year ago and researched flooring quite extensively. Off-gassing is very common amongst the cheapest rubber flooring and lasts a long time. The more expensive rubber floor tiles advertise the absence of any off-gassing, which I can endorse through my own experience. The ultra cheap stall mats are so attractive because of the low pricing but a good friend ended up removing them because the smell persisted several months after installation.

If you are sensitive to hydrocarbon off-gassing be cautious when purchasing new plates and dumbells if they are rubber coated. These too have a strong initial odor, but thankfully the smell does go away. Purchasing used has the added benefit of low odor and lower pricing!

For me, hard NO on racedeck type tiles in a gym unless they have a rubberized type product.

Do you know what brands advertise no off-gassing.

Is this for an exercise room and not a garage where vehicles will be driving on it?

I am in Canada, my search was focused up here in the Great White North. A quick Google search revealed many options. Not really in a position to make a meaningful recommendation.

There are so many gym forums with exactly the kind of info you seek.

Good idea.
My first thought was GJ.
Any time I need information I say to my wife, I'll go to GJ get lots of good information there.

Will horse stall mats work? That's what I used for under my lift tower, works well and hefty.

I would also suggest rubber mats, like horse stall mats- Tractor Supply has them, and they're surprisingly inexpensive. Rubber mats are the standard in a commercial gym with lots of free weights and would be great for doing any type of aerobic exercise on. If you want to do a huge area, there are lots of brands selling gym-specific rubber mat tiles that interlock.

I recently floored the baseball dugouts at our campus ballfield with Tractor Supply's 3/4" horse stall mats. Very economical (compared to the alternatives) and durable.

Trying to use mult-quote, it's acting weird.
Anyway.
That's a possibility.
They have a store not too far away.
Checked their website they also have the interlocking tiles for gym floors. Got some good reviews.
