Racedeck Free-Flow design: Thoughts?

I'm looking to install racedeck in my garage (27x25). My current plan was a mix of diamond and free-flow. I live in Minnesota and figure with the salt/snow free flow would be best where I park my cars. The diamond I planned on putting where I have my man cave area in my garage. The back wall I have cabinets on the right side and the left side I have racking. Not sure if I should even bother putting tiles under it? Just looking for feedback on the tiles and my design.

Now I'm even debating if I want to use the diamond panels in the top right (orange and black). I currenlty use that area as my man cave. I have a high top table with 3 chairs, my work bench is against the top wall and the right wall has a TV mounted on it.

Should I just go completely with free-flow except the borders?

Decisions!

thanks!

Based on your location, free flow is the correct choice. I like the pattern and using 4 tiles in each checker board is the way to go. You could even go 6 tile checker board with your large area. I think your man cave area can get away with single like you have it since it’s smaller.

I just did my garage and I decided to pull everything out and put tiles under. Since they are raised on legs the floor shows under. This gave me a chance to reorganize cabinets and get rid of stuff.

I wish I went with orange tiles where I park my Harley.

I do not have a designated parking spot for my Harley. Still trying to figure out the best parking situation for our 2 cars and motorcycle. It's a "3 car garage" but we cannot fit 2 cars on the 2 car side. Way too tight.

I had a mid sized SUV, a Corvette and my Harley parked inside. My vette had to park slightly diagonal to fit it in and provide enough room to avoid door dings. Actually selling my vette is what inspired me to redo the garage now that I have tons of room. My full size truck parks on the driveway and always will

Kylersk, I just knew you had a Harley once I saw all the oils stains on your floor. I keed, I keed.... But seriously, I knew.

My philosophy when it comes to these floor tiles is that the temptation to do a 'wazoo' design is strong. They just snap together, you can do it in a day, they even have an online design tool! I would say that 90+% of the time, the checkerboard effects are too much. They look obnoxious and tend to 'cheapen' the whole space. Think about it. If you pick up an Architectural Digest or look on Houzz for 'garages' and click the '$$$$' filter to indicate high-end finishes, you won't see any checkerboard floors. Further complicating matters in your space is that it is already visually cluttered with open shelving and stuff stacked floor to ceiling. That is going to be way too much visual 'noise' with a checkerboard floor. With orange no less. Think about that orange floor with your black and yellow tote bins. Just way too much.

RaceDeck can look good if you keep it subtle.

Thanks for your honesty.

My Harley does not leak oil! I had a few accidents while working on my old ATV - which is now gone.

You should have seen the garage prior to the shelving and totes! Moving boxs and junk covered the whole floor! It's been a slow process of getting rid of junk and organizing. I hope to get rid of the totes but for now they have to stay.

Eventually, i'll have this space the way I want!
