Racedeck FreeFlow transforms the garage

I just installed RD this past weekend and it turned out great! Shauna, their sales rep, was outstanding to work with and did an excellent job of helping me with the plan and answering questions.

Several steps in preparation and installation

1). Patched a few pits in the garage floor with HD concrete patch
2). Went to Sherwin Williams and bought Sher-crete waterproof for the floors. It dried quickly and beads water
3). Installed roughly 640 sq feet of RD Freeflow on Saturday. It was super easy to install! Had to cut a few pieces for the back wall and around the stairs, easily done with chop saw and hand saw.

Several neighbors and car friends have very positive comments and are looking to do the same. I also visited a local guy that installed it and that "reference visit" was enough to push me over the edge and make the purchase.

Overall the transformation in the garage is outstanding!

That's pretty much it. I used the shop vac as as well as sweeping, but I would say that is optional. If you have some large holes or areas where the floor is terribly uneven, then you need to address that first. But minor stuff isn't an issue.

For prep, I had a 11 year old garage floor that was in pretty decent condition, no oil or stains, just wear and living in Michigan, salt and road grime.

1) I went to Lowes and purchased concrete degreaser and floor cleaner and power washed the floor. Lifted up as much stuff as I could out of the concrete for sealer prep.
2) The next weekend I coated the concrete with a Benjimin Moore sealer and within the next 24 hours I laid the Racedeck

My thought was to put something on the concrete to repel the salt and water. I visited another Garage Journal person who lives in the area and had Racedeck down for more than a year and he recommended the same approach which seemed logical and worked for him. I took his advice and did the same

All I do now is take the leaf blower and blow out the tile and garage. I'll know more in the next year about how this worked once we get through winter.

So far the tiles are awesome; I love the look; and the garage looks great!
