RaceDeck Install Finally Completed

Just finished my RaceDeck install yesterday. Nothing fancy, just a classic red/silver checkerboard with a dark gray interior border.

It took longer than I anticipated, but I wanted a fitted look, so I raised the baseboards so the tile edge would conceal underneath. I also cut off the bottom of the door trim for the same reason. In areas where there wasn't a baseboard (like on stucco walls), I painted a one inch strip along the floor that matched the wall paint. I also had a lot of detail cuts, which took time.

Here's a link to the photos that are on flickr.com. Sorry for so many pics, but I didn't know how to only have a link to a few of them.

Ballpark estimate for the RaceDeck XL tiles, for 3 bay garage plus the area in front of and beneath steps, about $2,700. However, I had a hard time calculating the coverage area around and beneath the steps. I had a case of tiles leftover.

So let me get this straight....you have a great looking three car garage with a new floor that looks awesome, a bike and a Vette.....and you still have another whole garage that is walled off? Where did I go wrong? All I have is a 8'x12' shed that doesn't have heat or power.

So whats in the fourth bay?

Trust me, it's been a long time coming. Oh, and no kids. I got transferred about 1 1/2 yrs ago and we built a house. Made sure I'd finally have the garage I always wanted. The 4th bay is the "dirty" side...lawnmower, weed eater, yard tools, living quarters for two Dalmatians, etc.

Looks Great! You'll find that Race Deck is the gift that keeps on giving. I did mine a couple years ago and I still smile every time I walk into my garage.:bounce:

So does it make any noise when you walk on it?

Has sort of a hollow sound. I put down two layers of landscape felt and that reduced the sound vs. concrete I left one area of the garage w/o the underlayment and I can tell when I walk onto that area. It also makes a difference on what type shoes you're wearing. Harder soles (boots) are louder than Crocs.

I hesitated on RD tiles because I thought the sound would bother me; however, it doesn't. I was in the garage all day yesterday, tinkering and watching bowl games, and never noticed any sound issues.

SyTyJim...your garage looks great. Noticed you had the Pooler PD there to help.

Yes sir!

Thanks! My son actually put down the 3rd car garage area down for me. I just handed him the correct color tile and he did the rest! It was a great time.

Actually, it looks like the Pooler PD has that Vette pulled over. :p

Great pics, especially with your boy helping out.
