Here's my Racedeck install from start to finish in the "clean bay". Started with a shop vac sweep and a mop with Simple Grey to make sure I was clean at the start. Then I started to lay out landscape fabric that I purchased at Lowe's.

I don't know why the pictures are rotated?
Once the fabric was down, I started to lay out the beveled tile and the first course across the opening and down the one side.

Once I had everything squared up, it went pretty quick laying the bulk of the floor. When I designed my garage, I made sure I had the width of the finished bay just right so I didn't have to cut any tiles along either wall. Left about 1/2" gap on each side for expansion - worked out great!

The project slowed a bit when I got to the bathroom, much more cutting and fitting. I was happy to get my beer fridge back in place to get them puppies cold again:beer:

Fitting the tiles around the toilet was the most challenging part. I made templates out of cardboard, then cut the tiles to match with a saber saw and a combination blade.
Finally finished up and got my GTO back in her home:thumbup:

All in all, very happy with the end result, still need to put up some baseboard to finish the project off.

Better get that sideways lean fixed or the beer will fall out of the fridge!

So why 'racedeck'? it seems quite popular over epoxy etc. It looks great that is for sure!

Racedeck was easy to install myself over a weekend and I personally like the grid look for this kind of finished space. I plan to do my other two bays in epoxy, those bays are the "working side" of the shop and have old barn tin/siding on the walls. Racedeck on that side just wouldn't look "right" IMO.

Looks great. Nice job! What's the names of the colors you used on the walls if you don't mind sharing?

Looks great! Nice job. I couldn't be happier with my RaceDeck floor. Good job on the landscape fabric. That makes a world of difference!

I went to a home show in Boise last weekend.

I had 3 vendors quote me $4.00 to $4.50 per sq foot for an epoxy floor.

I have a standard 3 car garage.

I have done a floor very similar to race Deck and it was cheaper than what these vendors just quoted me.

also like OP, I like the checkered look and I could do the work myself.

very easy to install.

so, after talking with these local vendors I am now leaning to another race deck floor for my garage.

Your floor looks great! Why did you lay down the landscape fabric? I have never seen anything from RaceDeck that suggests laying down fabric first....

I'm looking at installing Race Deck also....

If you do a RaceDeck floor, take the extra 30 minutes it takes to put down a layer of good landscape fabric. I've had two RaceDeck garages, one with and one without fabric, and I'm much happier with the fabric floor. With a simple layer of fabric, the floor is quiet.

My garage is in Portland. Will landscape fabric work in a moist environment like Portland?
