Will Racedeck work on a smooth, level compacted sand/gravel base? Does it HAVE to be installed over concrete?
We would not recommend it. The contact points of the underside grid will work their way into the base with the natural vibration and various weights created by vehicle movement, foot traffic, etc. It should be installed on a solid surface.

Thanks, that's kinda what I figured, but worth asking anyway. I appreciate the response.

I'm trying to figure out where I can save a bit of money on a shop build. Concrete will be the biggest PITA of the whole project. The area I'm thinking about wouldn't be where vehicles are moving, but just foot traffic and workbenches.
