I realize that I never made a thread about Racedeck when I first installed their flooring in the Secret Lab, so I thought I would do a one year review.

Working with Racedeck was great. Easy communication, quick follow up and constant communication from ordering to delivery day made it an enjoyable experience. These folks are first class all the way.

I ordered 1,020 Free Flow tiles for my project. They arrived when promised and in perfect condition. Installation was super easy, but I do recommend a rubber mallet and knee pads. Get your starter row straight and it goes fine.

I've use floor jacks, metal jack stands, put up tables with metal legs without rubber feet, dragged massive water totes across it and walked on it with snow covered feet. If I'm being honest, I doubt the Racedeck even knew I was there.

I painted the baseboard area and a few inches of the floor black to ease to tile transition. Then laid down landscape fabric. The fabric was so I wouldn't have to look at the concrete through the floor, which was a completely cosmetic decision. The tile is silent to walk on.

Some things we have done on our Racedeck floor...

Hosted a reunion party. Seriously; tons of comments on the floor. I was very happy.

High school hydroponics experiment.

Going on now; full scale, commercial grade hydroponics grow table experiment.

So, yeah. I really like this flooring a lot. The free flow doesn't seem to be slippery with wet or snowy feet either. Must be because of the pattern. Did some recent upgrades to the lab and the floor cleaned right up from dust, drywall mud and even a little blood ;-)

I still have more garages to do and will probably order the daily driver flooring on Black Friday.

It looks great! How easy is it to see/recover small items that have been dropped on the floor? How does one clean up the floor after a dirty project?

Thanks guys. The only things I have had a hard time finding are small dark objects. I broke a drill bit building the light support above the hydroponic table and still haven't found it! Other things can be picked up with a magnet.

Clean up was super easy. We renovated this space a couple of weeks ago and got drywall mud and dust all over the place. It came up easy with a shop vac. Had to broom the outside edges a bit to get it out of the landscape fabric, but it was easy enough. You can see that work and the steps I took to protect the floor here: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=245348&page=8

A word of caution; if you find yourself gluing PVC over this type of floor, be sure to double your tarps. The primer will soften the flooring, removing the shine and the glue will wreck it for sure.

Wow that is an amazing space!

Jorgen, I'm about to place another order myself (decided to go with a different fill and border color) so be on the lookout!

I think I'm going to use the landscape fabric under mine as well this time, just to make it look super clean!

I have used a floor jack and regular jack stands on it. No problems at all. I suppose I could put something under the jack stands, but didn't see the need.

Honestly, the only thing I have heard a problem with (reports of others) is welding spatter. You would have to be pretty abusive to damage these tile is a significant way.

P.S. I actually park cars in here too, when I'm not working on a project. :)

Love the flooring!
I've a 2 car garage and I tried gray Epoxy, which tends to come off. Also last year in NJ was on of our wettest season, it literally rained every week during Spring and Summer. I got condensation on the floor, not sure if it was because of the humidity?

I had some porous carpet earlier but that seemed have encouraged mold growth under it.

Would love to have these tiles set, what size tiles did you use?

Do these tiles allow air flow? or would I end up having mold under the tiles?

Thanks

These are Racedeck Freeflow. No way mold will grow under them, unless you have a huge problem.
