Racedeck Question

I am looking at putting Racedeck in my Mens Crisis Center, what is like to walk on, does it have a solid or hollow sound? Is it like walking on a wood floor?

Many here love their racedeck floors so you'll get lots of feedback on this one. Personally I found it noisy, ask for a sample, put it on the floor and walk on it.

I like mine, no one will sneak up on me as there is a noise when you step down on it. I didn't do it, but understand that if you were to place that weed blocking fabric down between the tiles and the concrete, it prevents the minimal noise from happening.

i have in my garage & has a hollow sound when walking on it... not like walking on wood floor, noisier...

In my sig is a pic of mine with the underlayment. It makes it quite a bit quieter.

I had it down for a year straight from the box. I love it! It does have a hollow sound, but I've gotten used to having it. It sure helps when a screw is dropped, I can actually hear it.

Last month I removed and rearranged the tile into the pattern I had planned. I put down two layers of landscape fabric under it and the sound is now a dull thud. I agree with 66, no one will sneak up on me...

Didn't see the underlayment described. What did you use under the Racedeck? Floor looks very good. Nice to have it in FL. Not so sure what tiled product I should use in NY. Still a quandary.

With regard to the noise suppression, in your case, what does it actually sound like now? I can imagine the "hollow plastic" clicking......obviously the cloth is worth the extra money (additional labor is minimal)....but, does it sound like a solid floor....???

It's a very dull sound. With stuff in the garage to cut down on the echo, it is really pretty silent now.

Funny thing. The free flow is dead silent. It makes sense tome now, but when you walk across it when the garage was empty, there would be a very muffled sound on the solid tiles and then absolutely no sound on the Free flows.

My friend has RaceDeck and loves it but it is too "artificial" to me.
I know the "sound" is probably trivial when all is said and done and it's a great high quality durable product but I have over 720 square feet and would hate to drop $1800.00 bucks (or $2700.00 for "tuffshield') and hate it.

I'm in the process of purchasing/researching floor tiles as well. A friend suggested that I put down under layment used for laminate floors to avoid the "clacking" sound when walking.

Mine is 24x24.

Personally, I just thought the 12x12 was too busy unless the area was real small.

Some of the large showrooms on the RD gallery pages are 48x48. They look good in a huge warehouse.

You could post a screengrab of your pattern you are working on.. For 1200 SQ', I'm thinkin you would definitely do 24x24. Or 36x36 with some 18" tiles.

My Garage is about 690.
