I am thinking about doing the floor in my garage. I feel I know what I need to know about epoxy, now I'm looking at racedeck. I am thinking about a diamond pattern with a mid border of the free flow around the parking area. How is this stuff for rolling a creeper and creeper seat? How about gojacks or car dollys with a car loaded? Will jack stands poke through the floor? How about a cherry picker or engine stand, floor jack? I know I can put a chunk of plywood under a jack stand, but I'd rather not have to mess with it. I work on my cars. I use all of the above mentioned tools. I also weld. I understand the need to protect almost all types of flooring while welding, and I'm ok with that. Is the floor loud to walk on? Anybody in the Chicago area willing to let me take a look at their racedeck floor?

I am thinking about doing the floor in my garage. I feel I know what I need to know about epoxy, now I'm looking at racedeck. I am thinking about a diamond pattern with a mid border of the free flow around the parking area. How is this stuff for rolling a creeper and creeper seat? The tread pattern of our solid surface and the FreeFlow all you to easily roll across the floor How about gojacks or car dollys with a car loaded?I also use go jacks to move my cars around and some are quote heavy, our bonneville landspeed car weighs in at 5,000lb and no issue Will jack stands poke through the floor?that depends? if you are using quality stands that have pads or a base plate, then no. If you are using cheaper thin angle iron type stands you may ding the floor, a simple solid pad would solve any potential issue How about a cherry picker or engine stand, floor jack? Cherry pickers tend to have large wehels and spread the weight out over the 4-6 wheels, you should have no issue I know I can put a chunk of plywood under a jack stand, but I'd rather not have to mess with it. Is the floor loud to walk on? all floors have a unique sound, if you want t muffle the sound of any suspended floor in your garage, you can simply use a synthetic landscape felt/mesh Anybody in the Chicago area willing to let me take a look at their racedeck floor?

Sure sounds like someone would enjoy porcelain tile...

I still leaning towards porcelain tile but haven't pulled the trigger yet, though I'd rather have racedeck flooring. I need the smooth rolling solution and don't want the freeflow style as liquids fall down, but I can't fine their "solid surface" stuff anywhere on their web site. It's also more expensive than porcelain tile.

Thanks for the responses guys. Porcelain tile is out. My garage is for daily drivers in the winter time. Don't want to deal with it in the cold, snowy, and slick times of winter. If I were in a warm climate, I'd be all about the porcelain tile.

I have the Diamond pattern, no problems rolling a creeper around while under the car. Tool boxes are also easy to push around on the flooring. As stated already if you have basic jack stands (like me) you will probably want to use some thick plywood under them, but if they have pads or a solid plate they should be ok. My cheap floor jack will push down on the floor when lifting my 4k lbs Caprice so I use wood under it. I think a better jack with wider wheels wouldn't be a problem though.

I was very paranoid about the sound of the floor but to be honest it doesn't bother me. I wouldn't say it's "loud" but it is noticeable, but not that it's really a bad thing? If that makes sense.
