RaceDeck versus Costco MotoFloor

Looks like MotoFloor is made by the same company and is only a little bit thinner.

I'm leaning towards RaceDeck on the theory that they've been around longer and will likely be around if I need to buy replacement tiles. Aside from looks, is the Classic style the same as the Diamond: are all the specs the same?

The Classic is on clearance for $2.39, (about 40% off of the original price) but only in white. I'm assuming that it's been discontinued. I don't love the white but we'd probably put a rug over it anyways (this is for a corner of our basement, not a garage).

Should I bite the bullet now or sign up for the RaceDeck Black Friday alert and hope to pick up a nicer style? Any idea if the simulated wood (smoked oak or charred oak) might go on sale?

Thank you. Any idea what percentage they usually take off? I'm guessing 20 - 25%.

In which case 40% off of the Classic is a good deal as long as the quality is as good as the Diamond.

You will need to call to find out. I'm not sure what "Classic" tile you are referring to. Do you have a link? What I can tell you though, is that RaceDeck tiles are superior to MotoFloor in terms of rolling weight ratings, underside build structure (including connectors), and finish. It's why they cost more. However, budget is always the final deciding factor.

I asked about the Classic for a garage and i was told that it is shiny and slicker than the other solid surface tiles. Not recommended for wet areas

Thanks for the input. I plan on tiling a small section of my basement. It's damp down there --which is why I need something non-porous and somewhat elevated off the ground-- but not damp enough to worry about the tile getting slippery.

If you were to buy the Costco stuff, you'll need to factor in 20% or more extra if you'd like some ability to make future repairs, and make sure you buy all you'll ever possibly need in one go. Odds are you'll never see it again, and the entire stack could be gone tomorrow.

I've used Costco stuff for other types of flooring with good results at a very low cost, but you have to go in knowing these limitations, and overbuy by a significant amount. Treat it like you found a pile of materials on clearance at Crazy Joe's Stuff Shack.

Good point. Although they seem to have been selling it for a while --based on some of the threads I've seen here-- there's no guarantee.
