New member here. Looking to add flooring to my garage.

Does anyone know the difference (other than price) between RaceDeck and GarageDeck tiles? It looks like they are made by the same manufacturer, look similar, but GarageDeck is cheaper.

Thanks!

Yes, they both are manufactured by SnapLock Industries. The difference in the tiles is the underside structure, locking mechanism, and finish. RaceDeck incorporates a more robust structure that uses more material. It's why they have the 80,000 lb rolling weight rating. In addition, the locking mechanism is reinforced and tied into the underside structure whereas the GarageDeck tiles are not.

Lastly, the finish of the RaceDeck tiles is a little nicer. The circle design of tiles in particular tends to have a marbled-like finish and telegraphs the underside structure through the surface. RaceDeck just does it less than GarageDeck. I would recommend getting a free sample of each in a couple of colors to check for yourself.

Early on I was looking for "best price", so I did both garages with Garage Deck. That was over 10 years ago & I've been suffering through compliments about my floors ever since. They set flat on the floor, lock together just fine, are tight enough that most spills won't flow through to the floor. Having a few spares I can simply change out any that I damage. Damage that requires change is usually in the form of a hole I drilled to mount something to the floor, then changed location years later. I do have one damaged tile where I used a jack stand without any protection. It's under a car & can only be seen when the car is out of the garage. Since it's a garage floor, & I'm still getting compliments on it, I don't see any reason to change that tile.

The grey, or "alloy", tiles do fade a little more in my south facing garage, but I leave the door up all day... :dunno: I was unaware of the Garage Journal discounts when I purchased mine. I'm not disappointed with Garage Deck, but if the price was close enough I might go with RaceDeck if I were to do it again, but other than the slight fading I'm still happy with my Garage Deck. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I got a sample of Racedeck and one of the less expensive, made in same factory brands.
The Racedeck is just nicer.

Edit:
Wow, Can't believe this was my first post, 12 years later...
