Racedeck XLC

Hi everyone! Long time lurker, first time posting.

I am looking to install garage floor tiles in my 1 car garage, and have narrowed my choice down to Racedeck free flow, free flow XLC, and Swisstrax Ribtrax. I do a lot of car detailing including rinseless washes in my garage, and I prefer the vented tiles over solid.

I have received samples of all 3 tiles, and right now I am leaning towards the Free Flow XLC. The XLC tiles have a flat surface at the top of the ribs (instead of rounded with the original free flow and Ribtrax) which seems to help increase surface contact and friction when wet from my initial assessment. I believe the flat surface could also be beneficial in preventing certain types of damage / indentions since the force would typically be applied over a larger area. The increased tile thickness when compared to the free flow tiles is also a plus. The Ribtrax are a close second place due to their equivalent thickness to the XLC, and their color palette.

That all being said, the XLC was quoted as the most expensive option (although I did not ask for any discounts yet), so I want to make sure the free flow XLC are the way to go.

I have seen a few posts about people who have installed the new XLC tiles, but can anyone else who have installed these chime in on their experience thus far? Thank you!

When comparing products, look at FreeFlow XLC locking system, no 'dimple' imperfections on the top surface and the top surface design provides increased traction, smoother rolling, and great drainage flow.

I was able to get the majority of the install done yesterday after work. I still have to make cuts along the right side of my garage and around my steps, but it already has made a huge impact!

Just to add more detail, my garage is just under 12 feet wide by 20 feet long. Colors chosen were Graphite and Royal Blue. I feel that he Graphite is an especially good color for the freeflow tiles.

I enjoyed the installation benefits by using the large 18" x 18" XLC tiles, and I am looking forward to spending more time in my garage on this flooring!

It doesn't even look like the same garage once you get the floor tiles down. I do mostly woodworking in my garage so I have the diamond pattern and I love it. It looks good, is easy to clean, and if I need to get under my car to work on something, the tiles are a lot nicer on my back that a hard concrete floor.

Thanks! Yes the flooring makes even more of a difference than I anticipated!

It's a Series.Hyperblue which is the US version of the Hikari. It's a very cool color! I typically buy silver cars, but this color fits the STI well!

I'm a hobbyist detailer myself. This freeflow flooring should be very nice for rinseless washes, etc!

Your floor looks great. I have a general question about the open top tiles. Is it a haven for bugs or spiders in the garage? I’m in the early phases of considering garage flooring options. Tiles vs epoxy vs polyaspartic etc. It’s a hard decision due to all the conflicting information, but it’s no doubt your floor looks really nice

I read somewhere that it is advisable to put down some landscape fabric and put the race deck tiles on top of that. It supposedly
greatly reduces the clackity clack sound issue. Has anyone tried something like this? I am getting ready to order the race deck and wanted some ideas on sound.....Thanks

It helps with the solid tiles. The FreeFlow tiles are quiet as is. I have FreeFlow tiles and put landscape fabric underneath just to give the tiles a good consistent color for background. May also help with water that drains through and spread it over a larger surface area to evaporate faster.

These tiles are very quiet as is, no landscape fabric underneath. The only areas that make any noticable noise are snall areas with a very uneven surface that the bottom of the tile cannot maintain 100% surface contact.

Overall, no complaints so far and still love these! Rinseless washes in the garage are much cleaner and less slippery with these installed!

Any idea how these would do on a deck? I have a very small "step" that needs a walkable surface and Trex type decking is too thick. Do they handle UV well?

RaceDeck has a line of tiles for this, UV resistant. They are identical in looks and size to the regular tiles. I have them in my open-sided carport where the sun shines inside when at lower angles.

I have had mine several years now, and there is no sign of fading or degradation from the sun.
