Sixteen minutes of cinematic gold, and you catch the fact I didn't use my clips? Hilarious. Hey, if nature is going to cooperate and give me sun, I'm gonna use it! Great to hear from you!

lol, cause it was so out of place. The magic, the motion, the energy....then some guy in berkenstocks trekking out to the curb.
Just means that you are still one of us shlubs and not some big time internet celebrity.

Hey Rick, how do you keep the garage clean while washing the car? Does the water not spray everywhere?

Quick answer:I have perfected the angles so there is relatively little overspray. With the car positioned in the centre of the garage, I can foam, pressure wash to my heart's content with no issues. It's art, really.

Rick, have you ever used Hydrosilex? It's marketed as the first ceramic coating for sale to the public. I'm always wary of new products with big claims, not only if they work but also if they might damage the paint. I'd love to know your thoughts on the product.

I have not had any experience with Hydrosilex. It does pop up on every social media feed of mine, though. I'm still on the fence with coatings. They make big promises, but I have strong doubts they live up to the hype. I have used GTechniq, CQuarts and now Gyeon, but I have reservations. The longevity claims do not take into account the harshness of winter road conditions here and I do have to use the coin-op wash in the winter and those commercial soaps make quick work of the coatings I have experimented with in the past. I have been using spray sealants a bit more these days, but I'm not completely sold on those either. It's a struggle.

Thanks for the input Rick. I'm very happy using Zymol as my wax. It's easy to apply and lasts much longer than the mainstream brands. Unless someone can give me a definitive recommendation on these new coatings, I'll think I'll stay with what works. Seems to me everyone is looking for great results with 3-5 minutes of work, and that's who these companies target. As the saying goes, there ain't no such thing as a free lunch. To get the results, you gotta put in the work.

If you are getting good results with the wax, stick with it. Coatings take more time and patience if you want to do it right, but I kind of like the challenge. Most of the time is spent correcting the paint and ensuring it is completely contaminant free.

That said, I always keep a good stock of quality wax on hand because sometimes it just feels like the right choice!

I installed a new Swisstrax floor to replace my trusty RaceDeck floor. I also muted the colour scheme a bit, too. I'm quite impressed with the quality of the Ribtrax, Black Oak vinyl, Carpettrax and the LED light panel. I re-carpeted the stairs too.

What are you using for shelving and the rods for car wash products?
Also what kind of heater you got? Looking to get some heat in my garage. Is that subway tile and wood between the tiles for mounting.
Garage looks amazing. I don’t know how you keep the dust down and so clean. I leave my doors open a lot though.

Looks like a retail store for Adam's products:). The black oak tiles are also very cool. What I'd like is a solid type tile like the black oak but in white or near white. I work on bicycles and am ALWAYS dropping small parts. The open style means they go right through the ribs of the standard style. Near white because the parts would be difficult to spot on a dark background.

Your garage remains a showpiece; very nice!

All my shelves and various hanging rods are from Ikea. I don't know if the line is still carried. It was called EKBY. it has performed very well for me over the 7 or 8 years I have had it. My infrared heater is made by Space Ray. I love the fact that it doesn't move the air but rather just heats everything to the bone. Yes, I have added subway tile to the parts of the garage that may see moisture and I added wood runners to make the mounting of storage items easier.

I keep things pretty clean, but the fact that I don't have a forced air heater kicking up dust is a big part of that. Thanks for the questions.

Swisstrax does have a few styles of vinyl tiles that would suit your fancy. I think one was white pine iirc. Thanks for the comment.

Looking good as always. nice setup

Thanks, I appreciate that.

Nice updates! I love the oak tiles.

Thanks. It made sense to go with something solid where I do most of my "lounging" versus detailing, and the black oak has a very nice feel and look to it.

Nice.

I’m curious what prompted you to replace the floor?

I wanted a new look and feel. I also wanted to work out some sort of partnership with a flooring company and Swisstrax was game so that was that. The team at Swisstrax treated (and continue to treat) me like a king.

I would LOVE for all my Adam's to be that organized!! Very nice collection and awesome looking garage!!

Thanks. I am enjoying the Adam's partnership I was fortunate to establish.

Amazing garage, I am a little over halfway through the thread and I know people asked about your paint a few times but I didnt see listed what type of paint finish you used? Semi Gloss, Gloss, Flat? Thanks!

The majority of the paint was a standard semi-gloss from my local big box store:

Sorry if I missed it--what color Swisstrax is the ribtrax? thanks.

Border: Vinyl Black Oak
Accent band: Pearl Grey
Center portion: Slate Grey

Thanks my friend. I appreciate that.

Thanks. After a lot of debate, I just ordered the reverse with pearl surrounded by slate. It may be harder to keep clean than yours but I wanted to error on the light side. I may regret it. lol.

Post some new photos in the Double Garage 2.0 thread, but thought I'd share some here as well for anyone who still bothers checking in on this old dog:

On a non-garage-related note, I was featured on a print ad for a Calgary Flames advertisement. Pretty cool. I'm the guy with his fingers in his mouth:

Awesome space!
Looking to get some Adam's products myself - recommend going through the Canadian supplier, or have a preference?

Thanks,
m.

Can you post the link to the new thread?

No new garage thread for me, but I have contributed to a few other cool threads such as:

No, you just keep on working on the one and only RAD Garage build thread! And, thanks for the kind words. It has been a remarkable journey to this point.

I like your blog post on instagram about other awesome garages. Awesome idea.

Thanks, I'm having fun turning my attention to other garages. Mine gets boring after a while! Just made a post about Larry's sweet setup:

Just read your thread and loved it. I’m also a teacher so I understand the need to have a place to redirect your mind like a garage. Your place looks like a perfect spot for that!

You know the struggle! Thanks, I do enjoy retreating to the garage to clear my mind after a busy day of pre-teenagers.

What brand Wheel storage racks are those on the wall? are they adjustable, looks like a tight fit for just 4 wheels

I have two of these:

They can be expanded to a width of 66".
