Re: Rick's Double Garage in Calgary, CAN

She shouldn't have to live like this:

Arrived! by 55cadillacking, on Flickr

I'm picking her up on the 3rd of Jan.

This is called - "cruel and unusual punishment" ;)
My wife's next car will probably be an Audi (she has an Acura TSX right now). I think we overpaid for an Acura vs what you get with an Audi, like an A4. Plus the dealership with a free carwash is right by my office.

Again, you provide a target for me to aspire towards. I doubt my garage will ever be near what yours is, but if I can get even 1/2 there, I'll be happy. :)

Thank you for sharing your obsession with us.

Re: Rick's Double Garage in Calgary, CAN

The garage has been quite lonely for a couple of weeks now, since I sold the Optima. But, in three days time, this will be taking up residence. They have completed the PDI, so now it is just waiting to be detailed, 3M'd and tinted. Friday @ 1245 she becomes all mine!

That is the winter wheel set up I purchased. The stock 21's are in the garage already.

Thanks EMC2.

Here's a little update on the "goings on" in my garage.

Since we are going down to one car, I have converted my second tire rack into a bit of storage shelf. The new car's summer wheels are up. I coated them with Gtechniq "Wheel Armor" prior to storing them:

I felt the beams above the garage door were a bit too dark, so I played around with the paint a bit. I also painted the attic access panel to blend in.

Re: Rick's Double Garage in Calgary, CAN

Thought I would take a moment to share the story behind the red gas can on my upper shelf. My paternal grandparents lived in their house since 1949. Their home was one of my favorite places to spend time, for obvious reasons. Since the age of 10, I helped them with their yard. My grandfather passed away when I was 16, and ever since then, I did my best to help my grandmother care for the yard until her passing a few years ago at the age of 96. When her estate was being administered, I was quick to take possession of the gas can that I used for over 30 years when filling their lawnmower. It holds a very special place in my garage:

Since her passing, the home was sold and torn down to make way for two infills. Time marches on.

I think the real question is would it still be on the shelf and on display if it was pink :)

There certainly was no lack of pink in that house. Sink, bath tub, stove...all pink.

Great updates to the garage and congrats on that new Audi. New car day is always a special occasion that usually only occurs every few years, hope yours was great. Looking forward to more photos of the Audi and your garage.

pics or it didn't happen :) Lets see a pic of that bad boy dirty!

It was so cold today that the roads were actually quite tidy. I am really loving this new ride.

Glad to hear that. Thanks a lot.

With all the Q5's on the road where I live, it's kind of cool to have a special one. I'm getting quite a lot of stares from other Q5 drivers.

when you say you "3M'd", what do you do?

I'm referring to the 3M protective film that was installed by the dealer. I opted for the full hood/fender package since rock chips are a big issue up here with the roads being graveled all winter.

This is the "partial hood" version:

New car day was extra special since this is the first time we ordered from the factory. It was a pretty long wait so that made it all the more exciting. Lots of lots of photos to come in the near future.

Great work! Really looks good

Thanks FordGuy.

Re: Rick's Double Garage in Calgary, CAN

Because my new car has no "mud flaps", I'm having trouble ensuring I don't drag all kinds of mud-encrusted snow chunks into the garage. The hardened snow and ice is falling off the bottom of the car and creating quite a mess on the floor. As part of my "self-help/therapy" regiment, I will be chronicling my battle with this mess in the next few days.

Many people have asked, in many threads, about the practicality of having a RaceDeck Free Flow floor in a wintery climate. Well, this Canuck is going to prove that this type of floor can handle everything sloppy winters and road conditions can throw at it.

Stay tuned!

Re: Rick's Double Garage in Calgary, CAN

The weather forecast is calling for some mild temps, so perfect time to rinse out the floor beneath my RaceDeck FreeFlow floor. This is the 4th winter with the FF, and it has handled everything mother nature has thrown its way. Today's "rinse" took 20 mins. Here's a few photos documenting the process:

If only I could keep my car as clean as the floor it rests on…

It may look like a lot of work, but it's really not that big of a deal. If I can manage in this climate, I'm sure everyone can.
