Radiant boiler

I’m looking at radiant heat as seen in my other thread. My question is if I want to run an LP boiler, what all do I need to buy. At lets say Menards for example. LP boiler and...... plan of building a 40x64x14

Do you really want a boiler? What Seam pressure will you be using? Boilers need inspection at regular intervals.

A hot water heater, on the other hand typically gets ignored from when it is installed until it fails many years later.

For my build I (14 years old now) I used a NY Thermal Trinity fully condensing modulating 150,000 BTU max Wall mounted hot water boiler.

You will not find one of those at the Home Depot...or menards. NTI picked up that line now. You'd need to go to NTIboilers.com and look up a distributor.

Places like supplyhouse.com do sell other brands direct to consumer.

Boilers boil water, that is why they are called Boilers.

If all you want to do is heat water, or some other fluid, you have a Water Heater of a some other Heater.

A "boiler" MAY boil water, but it does not have to and will still meet the definition of a boiler. The specification of the appliance will depend upon the design temp of the emitters, in this case radiant and probably a max temp of 120*f. Heating 2500 sq ft, you would be best getting a fully optioned out product that will have a modulating burner, 90+% efficiency and outdoor reset built in. If you require dhw, you can get a combi which will do both.

I had a conversation with my younger brother who has retired after 40 years in the boiler business. He let me know that the difference between a boiler and a water heater is in the controls. He also pointed out that my opinions and beliefs are influenced by what I learned in the Navy and my service on ships with 600 and 1200 pound steam systems.

So I stand corrected, I now accept that the hot water "Boilers" used to heat garages and homes are boilers. Just as VW Rabbit pickups and Kenworths and Peterbuilts are all products of truck makers and are all trucks.
