in the process of preparing for concrete floor is a drain necessary? im wondering if the heated floor would dry out faster that the drains usefulness.

Heated floor does dry fast, but I would still put in drains.

Depends on what you are going to do in the garage, I did not do drains in mine , it for working on stuff and storage.

Other garage is for parking daily drivers with rain drip off and snow melt, not that the floor slopes to the drain, more to the walls.

What are you planning on draining the floor to?

It would have to go to a holding tank likely, no sewer or septic. No thanks.

I just have a sump. I sink a sump pump in mine a couple times a year.

id have to dump it to a french drain. seems like alot of work with little return

Depends on what you're draining. if you're concerned about snow melt, if and when I put a snow covered vehicle or snowblower etc in my shop, by the next morning the snow is melted and the floor is usually dry. So yes, unless you're dumping gallons of water on the floor, the warm floor does evaporate things quickly, including gasoline.
