Radiant floor heating questions

I’m having an approx 52x26x12 shop built with rafters to allow for attic storage.

Climate is the Pacific Northwest, average low is about 35 degrees and absolute low -6 although that’s exceedingly rare.

The main floor will be one closed off oversize single bay, and then an oversize double bay, and one or two smaller rooms set up for either storage or closed workspaces.

I’m thinking a NG* boiler for efficiency as most of the time it’s just for car/equipment/household goods storage. I may put a small A/C unit in the closed room but in general I would deal with heat by opening doors. I don’t do a lot of work in the shop.

My main question is for the attic, it will have all the houses normal clutter of seasonal decorations, scarcely used appliances, seasonal clothes, etc moved out there. Dampness is always an issue in this climate, will radiant downstairs keep it out? Do I need a secondary heat source?

I would install a mini-split heat pump in both areas. Not cheap to install, but cheap to operate.

I’m with TOW1 on a mini-split. You have a moderate climate…unless you are way N or up in the Mtns. You could use a Rinnai EX38 (NG) to heat that space nicely if you do not care about cooling.

I figure I do want AC in the workshop room that will be for reloading, fine assembly work, 3d printing, etc as I bet this will get hot as hell in the summer. The mini split idea has a lot of appeal.
