Radiant floor in a bathroom

This isnt in my garage, but I thought I'd ask for opinions here.

I'm remodeling a second storey bath in my house. House was built around 1850 or so, and had central Hydronic heat added in 1964. In the bathroom, the heating pipe enters in one corner, connects to 4' of convection radiator, loops around the baseboard on two walls and exits in the opposite corner.

The room is approx 7'x8'

I'm thinking about removing the rad and piping and replacing it with pex infloor.

The subfloor is sturdy and in good condition, and I'm thinking of adding a 3/4" plywood with 5/8" notches routed to recieve 1/2" pex looped the length of the room 5 times.The pex would be either glued or stapled in place

This would be covered with mortar and ceramic floor tiles.

Any suggestions or opinions??

We used the electric heated mat under our tile in the bathroom. We love it! Keeps the bath room nice and toasty. Uses a digital programable thermostat. I would think that this would be easier than plumbing a hydronic system for such a small room.

I dont have Radiant heating, My system has a gas boiler and baseboard convectors on two zones throughout the house. What I am doing is removing the convector in this room and replacing it with infloor. The heat pipe runs through this room along the baseboard and is quite ugly right. Infloor should clean up the appearance and give me a toasty floor..

The only issue i can think of is that the floor may get too hot, as it will be part of a zone that includes four bedrooms.

You will have to run a mixing valve as the water in the PEX should only be 120ish and I bet your baseboards are getting 180ish water.

Concern with water at all ? I've considered the same.
