Radiant Barrier is worth its weight in GOLD...It saves you tons of Money plain and simple.
I have 2 houses in Houston area.....the older one has no Barrier..I can only stand it in the attic for about 10 minutes in the summuer before I have to get the Hell out of there.
Now the house with the Barrier installed I can do 20-30 minutes before I have to run for cover (cool off)
***Barriers are not created equally***
I had the Barrier on my Roof decking before it was installed (Georgia Pacific). I used them because the Barrier is Glued straight to the wood. (Wood, Glue, Barrier). Unlike others that use a pre glued paper backing on the Barrier.(Wood, Glue, Paper, Glue, Barrier).
I had spacificly ordered the GP Barrier decking...
The Lumber company delivered the second type of barrier to my house. I was gone for 3 days and most of the Decking was installed on the roof. Then we had a light rain and the Barrier started to peel right off(due to the Paper backing) it cost the lumber company 290 sheets of decking plus the crew to rip off the old stuf and install new.
It was funny because the crew that showed up to remove and install the decking all had Nail Guns in hand....I have a STEEL FRAME house

Needless to say they started the next day....My poor temp power box looked like a GRIZZWALD Christmass tree(it has splitters on splitters on power splitters) only poped the C/B 2 times..LoL
