A friend used a couple of these in his singe stall race car shop, worked pretty damn well. Seems like he
put them on a timer so they turned on a couple hours before he planned to be out there.

I use a 1500 W infrared heater in my office in the barn. So perhaps not quite apples to apples. Its about 120 sq ft. It does not run constantly and can keep the room at 75 in the dead of winter in northern Indiana. One thing I do use is a fan to move it around the room a bit more.

In my experience, the radiant heaters work best if you're in line with the heat source - like standing in the sun on a cool day, so put them where they can aim at you. A fan on low, just to circulate the air, would help if you want to move around in more comfort and maybe your tools won't be that cold in the corners of the shop. A remote or timer switch would be good to install as well so you can get them started for a bit before you go out to the shop.
