Believe me if you work on engines a lot, I'd go for the 6 piece set. I purchased the set yrs ago, and have made a few additional custom picks along the way!

Different hose locations in a cramped engine compartment may require a different angle of attack to loosen them. The other picks in the six piece set provide you with more options.

here are a few other options besides snappy:

I also recommend this flat pointed hose pick set. You're less likely to puncture the hose with this type of pick and they come in handy for other prying tasks.

I just got the top set you linked. They work much better than the sharp pointed ones without the risk of poking a hole through a hose.

I like that flat spoon one in the two piece set. It looks like I could use it to slither around the hose until it's unstuck.

Thanks. I can definitely see the value of the flat-pointed set, Snap-On or not. The 6-pc set just looks like normal picks to me, wasn't sure what was special about them aside from the myriad of shapes.

I have that set...used it this past weekend on one of my cars. They're also handy to use just as long picks, I also used it to help loop the new serpentine belt on over some of the pulleys.

I have around 15 different picks. All made from throw away screwdrivers. Two minutes on a grinder a three more with a torch makes exactly the right tool for the moment.

I had a set of the Lisle hose tools but the chrome was terrible, it peeled off of both tools first use. I returned them and will probably pickup this set from Lang.

I use those at work and they are great for all of the big silicone hoses that we use. I've even used them for prying off the hoses and they are tough. They don't seem to scratch the pipe as well and have no chance to puncture the hose.

I made my own out of S2 bladed flat head screwdrivers with handle design I liked.
grinder and gas torch and you got as many hose tools or custom picks as you like and to size length you like .
40bucks a pop is ridiculous, I run a shop and I wouldn't/didn't want pay that .

You'll find a use for all of them at some time or another.

Also work good for the radiator and intercooler 'push connect' connections that have the wire clips. Easy to get those long picks down in a crowded area to weasel out the wire.

I also make my own. I never liked the sharp pick ones unless you were replacing the hose and didn't care if you poked holes in it.
