Radient tube or Modine style

Did a search, but didn't find much on the radient tube heaters. In-floor isn't going to be an option for me, but was considering either a hanging Modine style or a radient straight tube or u tube. This will be in a 40'X40'X15' pole building with decent insulation in northern Illinois.
I was leaning toward the tube style since a buddy has it in his auto shop. Which is more efficient? Any other opinions?

I was wondering the same thing. For some reason it seems very few people on this or other forums use the IR type heat though it is very popular with commercial interests such as airplane hangers & such where there is a large volume to heat. I plan to put the IR Tube heaters in when I can as my space is very similar to yours 48x40x14 & with the 12x12 overhead door it only takes a few seconds of being open & all the heat from a modine style heater would be gone & I'd be back at square one. As an aside, the place where I took martial arts was in an old garage & they had a modine style heater & it was hot being where it blew down but was cold elsewhere in the dojo. I want a more even heat throughout the shop than that and given one of the things I do is woodworking the tube style heater should be less trouble to keep the wood dust out of. The modine will blow dust around where the tube won't which is a problem when finishing something. Main thing is to make sure you have proper clearance to anything flammable. Lots of guys on here with the in floor radiant heat which is good if you are building from scratch, but when I bought my place the barn already had a poured concrete floor which I'm not willing to tear up so I will go with the next best thing which is the tube heaters.
