Radio antenna question

When I put the new LED lights in the shop, I killed the radio reception. I have an extra antenna used on farm tractors and considering mounting the antenna on the outside of the shop. The coax cable is 3 ft long and I need to go another 10. Will a solid strand #12 Thnn wire connected to the center pin of the coax provide any reception?

The coax is sheilded, thhn is not.

Without the sheild you still pick up all the noise from the lights once it runs into the building.

It may still help but will not be optimal.

I just fixed this issue today, leds killed FM reception. I bought a 12" magnet mount antenna on Amazon and stuck it to outside overhead door trim. Used Rg59 coax to extend. Cleaned up about 90% of interference.

Glad you fixed it. I've had similar problems, but mostly with AM reception. In my garage, it had to do with the fluorescent light ballasts. When I installed the LED tubes and removed the ballasts, signal was clear. I have the same problem with one of the LED drivers in my kitchen (though that seems to be a malfunctioning driver).

Thanks for the response. Bert told me what I assumed would be the problem with non shielded wire. I will look at the antenna that toyman suggested and am exploring the idea of building one.

Thanks again and I will report back with my solution.
