So we ran around to the few stores in my area, some have no idea they are closing and "haven't heard" of anything like that, while 5 miles away were raiding parts bins like its black Friday. The couple stores that are closing all have the same prices on their fixtures, I couldn't swing 175 for those. I stocked up nice little aluminum LED flashlights for $4 ea, as well as a ton of cables/connectors. My local store sold about half its inventory the first day, we got to it on the 2nd day.

Radio Shack announced the closing of 1700 stores with their bankruptcy filling. The other 4,000 may be sold and operated by Sprint.

I hope someone from Harbor Freight notices all the interest in these Radio Shack parts drawers, both here and on other forums.

HF could make an equivalent version of the cabinet and sell it for probably $50. At that price I think there would be lots of buyers.

The Problem was when places like Best Buy,and hhgregg, starting popping up all over the country . they refused to be competitive.

Retail is tough anymore. There are just too many options for consumers to buy from.

Here in this small town on the coast, my sister bought her fridge and stove from a NY firm. It's some special Swedish or German brand or something. They gave her free shipping, a free 10 year warranty, a free range hood, etc.. I said "I would've bought from the locally owned mom and pop appliance store." She said "I tried but the salesman never called me back."

So my mom spends $4,000 there at the local mom and pop store buying new appliances and beds for her new house here, and they scratched up the fridge when they took it out of the box at the store. So I go there to let them know, and the dude said "yeah I noticed that too before we delivered it to you" and then he promised to order us a new door. Never did. So we had to go there a few times.

Local retail has to realize that they can't treat people like **** and think that they will retain customers. Kinda makes me wish I had ordered her appliances online (would've saved 20% or more).

I went in tonight, they have sold all their drawers at full price. The contents of the drawers are now on the shelves marked at 80 0/0 off plus another 50 0/0 off. So really 90 0/0 off. I got 105 bags of parts for less than 42.00 including tax

My store still wants $175 for them. The parts inside are 60-70% off. I've already cherry picked the parts, so until the price drops to 90% off, I'm not even bothering to look through them anymore. I think I'm going to pass by every day or two,and as soon as the bins drop to $87.50, jump on at least two of them. Once they hit that price, they are gone quick. The $87.50 price seems to be the sweet spot in my area. They never get lower in my area.

where the hell am I going to go to get 102" stainless steel cb antennas? best price around if they have them at the local store!

I think it was 2006 when I got a PRO-97 handheld scanner for christmas. that thing was by my side untill the batteries kept failing and costing a bunch of money to replace them but by then I was driving and had my amateur license so I installed a scanner in the car, PRO-2050

I love radio shack, I think they would do better by selling a wider variety of electrical devices in the radio field, they don't even offer anything to hams

Just left 2 stores today they are almost cleared out. 6 days till closing but the kid told me he doesn't think it will last 2 days. They are only selling a couple of hundred dollarsin sales a day. He sold all 8 drawer units for a tool of 450 percent that's like less then 55 bucks each.

Did you provide personal information when you purchased clearance items this month? Your private information may be for sale.

From CNN.com - Radio shack attempting to sell customer information.

"If you're one of the 117 million people who've shopped at Radio Shack in recent years, your data is up for auction on Thursday. This isn't a few hackers trying to cash in. It's the bankrupt electronics retailer trying to raise money to pay off creditors.

As part of its bankruptcy auction process, Radio Shack (RSHCQ) is auctioning off its customer data, which includes personally identifiable information on those 117 million customers. But attorneys general of several states, including Radio Shack's home state of Texas, have filed objections to the auction, saying it violates the promises Radio Shack made to its customers before its bankruptcy.

The privacy policy displayed in stores and on its web site said, "At RadioShack, we respect your privacy. We do not sell our mailing list," according to the motion by Texas AG Ken Paxton.

Paxton's motion said Radio Shack's attorneys have told his office that the data includes consumer names, phone numbers, mailing addresses, e-mail addresses, and in some cases purchase history."

Wow wouldn't suprise me if some IT guy would download that info and sell it himself. Crazy...
I'm waiting for the other Radio Shacks to close down... Got some small batteries for my watches and some switches, they have 2 days left but it's all **** now.

One of my local ones finally got down to the $10 grab bag day, while the store had been pretty well picked over (so much for getting Arduinos for next to nothing, though the Duo I got for $8 wasn't bad) I probably relieved them of every last LED, capacitor, diode, and potentiometer they had left. I also grabbed a ton of watch batteries (I was surprised how many of those were left) and a couple of spools of CAT5.

All in all, I probably had $500-600 at retail for $10. Not bad!

is there a list of stores still open but closing soon

Today is the final wave of store closings 03/31. So starting tomorrow, 04/01, any store still open will remain open. At this point, probably all the 03/31 stores are boarded up anyway, because they have no stock left.

One I went to was bare on Sunday, though I think I read they have to have someone in the store until today.

If anyone who bought a bunch of misc stuff during the bag sale wants to sell me a small perfboard and some 10W resistors I'd sure appreciate it.
