I used rafter hangers to help me attach to the ridge board. I used the ones that are only about 3 inches long so the bottom 3 inches or so of rafter just sits on theridge board. Do I also need to nail this part of the rafter, or is the hanger sufficient?

I am absolutely a nail fan. If you do a good job at the walls, This part of the structure should be without much of a need for them, but I would still use them. I don’t like to toe nail, I would drive from the opposite side of the rafter I am nailing.

Appreciate the input. The rafters are all hung so toe nails it will be.

You don't need to toenail. Just angle the nail from the opposite side.
What @Zeke is saying is to use a piece of PVC or Trex like material to provide a support under the threshold after installation. And yes they are made that way by design. The doors jamb would typically be set flush with the wall framing, not inset.
Oh, I see. Good advice, thank you.
