Rafter Thrust Calculator

Found this on another Web site. Believe it is credible. I'm fine with the prescriptive requirements of the IRC but thought this would be useful if designing a horizontal beam as a means to resist rafter thrust. I guess flying buttresses too.

Interesting. It doesn't say so, but I'm guessing it assumes there is no contribution of a ridge beam (i.e. ridge board used or none).

I would assume so since there should not be rafter thrust if the ridge is a beam supported by other than rafters.
