Here's mine after yesterday's marathon session on the rail. I am going to work on the other side, too. Now that I've got experience on what worked well for me (and what didn't) the other side will be simpler and faster.

Did you paint the top plate too, where will you bang on it?

The tape I used wouldn't adhere to the rough surface that I hadn't "finished" with the grinder. So, I'm going to sand off the top area.

The heck with the anvil look at the background!

Hahaha... I do have a couple cool looking projects. Thanks!

Is that a Vicky 5 window?

On top is a 26/27 T roadster, zero rust. It needs very little and has a neat local history.

The bottom car is a 1930 Model A Coupe. It's been chopped about 4".

Very cool! Wonder how you cut something that hard...

FWIW I cut several anvils from a piece of track for a former GF and her jewelry making friends, used my 14'" abrasive metal cutting chop saw which did the job but took a LONG time also made a lot of noise and big mess...

but the results were nothing like the OP's anvil, that one is very nice.

I love my horizontal bandsaw for cutting RR track! Makes it easy, I rarely get the chopsaw out anymore.

Same. I considered pulling it out but it would've been awkward considering the angles I wanted.

If you mount that on wood, consider using date nails (nails pounded into the tie,to tell when the year they were laid) i had a handful i pulled and found one the other day, they be cheap a buck to 2 (ebay or flea market) i think you could buy some use as an ornament build a star of 1918 nails in your base,or a crescent moon,or Ur initials or ? hey i beginning to like this idea.use it.
