Vs typical house wrap -- I have never used. Fiber cement siding needs one.

Part of house will have to be done with nailing strips as its going over stone -- but I have an outbuilding thats conventional and the addition.

Hydro gap is sending some samples .. anyone use recently?

Yes -- Have read.

I did a rain screen (with 1x lath) previously when installing wide cedar boards to a cabin in a wet area. That was a long time ago. And I was told the wall would leak -- I don't think it did.

Have never done the wrap stuff. I really do think much of the wall rot problem has to do with insulation and plastic vapor barriers -- thats why i love closed foam. Plastic on the inside stops all drying to the inside -- all of the moisture has to move outside. Same with the exterior products like zip -- but reversed. Closed cell seals the whole cavity -- end of problem.

My architect also use the 7.25 product with a 5" exposure -- stability and more water tight.

I believe the paint warranty on the Hardie requires the wrap

I used the Benjamin Obdyke hydrogap housewrap under my board & batten siding. If I recall the rolls were 60" wide. I wanted to make sure if any wind driven rain got behind the hemlock siding it would eventually dry out and not rot the sheathing. It's been about 3 years and everything appears to be okay.
