Raise the Roof!

Hello, new to the forum and I'm looking at a big project. Raise the roof on a 60x30 pole building. We need an additional 14 to 16" of height to accommodate a new Motorhome. Going round and round looking at options I've finally decided raising the roof is the least expensive option.

So the idea is to cut the posts, lift and insert new 8x8 sections to lift the entire structure. Thinking about bracketing the inserts with steel secured by SDS screws. Once the building is at it's new height I will sheath it and put metal on the exterior long sides.

Anyone here done something like this? A photo of the structure is included.

Looks like a tough lift. No cross braces to hold it together. Also lots of jack points. Can you just dig instead?

It’s a significant job for certain. Mostly rigging. I’m thinking one side is loosened or bolts removed to the point it can pivot. The other side is rigged, detached and raised the 14 inches, or so that’s needed.
Custom extensions (fabricated steel) are installed. Repeat for the other side.

The easiest way to do it would be to lift off the roof with a large crane. Then you don't have to deal with jacks.

I was involved with a couple of these projects a few years ago. Crane would be on site first thing in the morning and lift off the roof. Then the crane crew would go do something else for a while, while the carpenters built the pole extensions. Then the crane crew came back later that day and put the roof back on.
