I an puting a metal roof on and my rake trim on the roof side were you screw it down ended up on the edge of the rib so it is up in the air not laying on the flat or top of rib. What do I do I have put on several metal roofs and this has never happened?

I talked it over with some of my freinds that do this kind of work. No one had a answer. So i came up with the ideal to put a 1 by on the fasha to bring rake trim out then it can be screwed on top of rib.

Can you determine what is holding the end off of the ribs? If I read this right you can "fill the void" by adding a 1x material. Does your trim make a 90 degree angle that will cover that. If not you solve your roof issue but now you may have a siding issue that is 1" too short. My facia was a two piece trim application. one was like a J channel that also acted as a place for soffit vent to sit in and bent up 90 degrees to cover almost all my 2"x6" end board (Rake piece) Then I had a second piece that enclosed the edge of the last metal roof panel and overlapped the other piece again almost 95% of the width of the 2x6" rake board..

The rake trim is seating on the roof metal rib so the screwing flange on the rake trim is past the rib by 1/2 inch witch is not far enough to seat flat on the flat part of the roof metal. So if i put 1 by on facia it will make rake trim seat on top of rib.

Sounds like the spacing of the sheets is a little off. Can you undo some of the fasteners and either stretch the panel a hair, or compress it back a little? It may take adjusting more than one panel depending on your dimensions.

After my builder bailed, I ended up finishing the roof of my 40x54 myself, and found that there was a lot of room to "cheat" the panels around to make for a clean look.

The sheets are runing square it is a steep roof I hate to go back and unscrew it. I have a 12 foot brake i thought about redoing the trim so it is smaller on one side. I sould have measured roof and cut some off of first sheet or started it diffrent.

I have my supplier make a custom rake trim to fit the measurement needed.
