Hi everyone

I’m finally building my 30x40 bank barn. I have the foundation and slab done, and the main floor structure is going up this week.

I have intentionally left the top of foundation fairly high off the ground- code here in mass says like 6-8”, but I’m going to aim for 16-18” because u am using white pine sills. The thought being to keep any splashing from rain or insects etc from having easy access.

I need to build a ramp from the driveway to the main door, so I’m wondering if anyone has thoughts about how to make it?

We have plenty of stone available, most of it large wall block, so I was thinking of making the section immediately next to the foundation of dry stack stone, and transitioning to smaller stone rubble, then to fill or dense grade gravel for the rest of the taper.

Should I copper flash the sill? I’ll ripper coat the foundation but will that be sufficient?

Has anyone done similar?

Thanks in advance
Jp

Why would you use untreated wood so close to the ground, in contact with concrete and in an application where replacement is damn near impossible?

16" is better than 6" above grade, but still, this is really a spot for PT
