i have a set of aluminum bi-fold Fly Racing ramps. They are the sturdiest aluminum ramps i've ever seen. They are a little bulky and heavy though, compared to the others.

I have fulton Tri folds.

Good ramps. BUT they lack the curve of some ramps so loading mowers can be a problem. If your getting one, get the longest one they make. Mine isnt the long one. Longer= easier to load mowers without them hanging up.

Loading mowers you really got to be careful. Mine hung up and kicked out my ramp (Ii feel ihredo4's pain:lol_hitti). This happened even though it was strapped to the tailgate. I guess i got lazy and didnt have the straps pulled fully tight.

Best bet, and what i think im going to do, is build a set that attaches firmly to the trailer hitch of my truck. No chance of kickout. Like the "safe t Ramp" http://www.discountramps.com/truck-motorcycle-ramp.htm

Bought my aluminum bi folds from HF and love them.
Always tie them off (I use the hitch safety hooks). I have never had an issue but my father has kicked them out twice now when unloading the mower. More his fault then the ramps as he went to fast and the deck cuaght the top of the ramp. Drive off slow and be tied off. Chuck the bungee cords that come with them and get two cam lock tie straps and keep them with the ramps.
Anyway, HF ramps, no bends or warping, fold up nice and relatively light. Bought mine in 2007 and still use them all the time.

for quads you'll have no prob with the tri folds, i have tri fold aluminum ones that have chains attatched that clip onto the box of the truck so they wont slip out

Doesn't look like it was tied off to anything.
That's about it too when you are not careful. A riding lawnmower is bad enough but a new quad is very heavy and can kill!

I'm iike the ones that have (front flanges) on them that would sit onto of the tailgate.
General Safety pratices for me was to at least ratchet wrap that flange tight against the tailgate.

What I don't like is that most of the folding ones are somewhat short. Loner - shorter angle of approach seems more safe but I suppose they make it that way so it's more *universal* and fits in more cabs.

Are there specific *BRANDS* that are better than others.

For example, on multifunction ladders, I swear by the Little Giants. Built like a tank, WELDS are good, etc.
