I have 16 cars, and take care of about 8 more that belong to kids and their spouses. It is always a challenge at the tire installer. It takes two trips. I order most of my tires from Tirerack. I have access to a first class tire mounting machine and wheel balancer at my nephew’s shop (a business I started in 1982, and then my brother bought me out when I went to law school).

My last go round was a fiasco. I bought a full size spare and an extra 17 inch wheel for my Yukon XL Denali. Dropped it off on Friday. Went to pick it up Saturday, and they couldn’t find it.... or the paperwork; even though I had a bar coded receipt. Waited for over an hour. I am also tired of f%cwits that can’t balance an alloy rim without putting weights on the outside of the rim. It can be done, even on OLD computer balancing equipment, if you know what you are doing, and can enter the parameters correctly to fool the machine into thinking the planes are NOT at the out edges.

So.... long story short (I guess it is too late for that), I bought a Ranger DST 900 wheel balancer and a Ranger RX950 tire changer for chump change to put down at my workshop. Floor space is not a problem. Al functions work on both machines. Almost all the pieces are present. I had to spend $40 on missing pieces, so feel lucky there. Also got a Branick 5040 tire spreader (in case I want to fix flats, and an Oil King oil drain set up (which costs $789 to $1000 depending on where you buy) that has never been used.

So... my question is this: the tire changer has all four “protectors” that go on the table. But, two of them are cracked. I would like to buy a set of four. On the Bendpack site, they are only available with the rim protector kit (and I DON’T need the protector for the tire iron) for $329!!!!!

Amazon has a set for much less (less tha 8 bucks shipped) and ebay has s set for less than $16 shipped ( https://www.ebay.com/itm/1757631353...HmN7HvMSTetw3ryOM%3D|ampid:PL_CLK|clp:4429486

#3 in that auction.

But BOTH indicate they are for a Coats machine. When I go on the Ranger (Bendpak) site, the part number crosses over to a coats number.

My question is this: does anyone know if the Ranger uses the same protector as the Coats?
