I've been looking for sometime to land a nice used coats, however yet to have any luck. So now that im getting tired of waiting I began to look at these cheaper Rangers. I tried to do some research and have found very little reviews on these, I was hoping to hear from people who own or have used these newer rangers. For me id be using it at my car lot, doing mostly tpms sensors and replacing tires as needed. Any help would be great- Thanks!!

I have the Ranger 980xr tire machine and the Ranger 64t balancer. The tire machine is okay but the balancer is junk.
I shouldve just returned them and gotten something better but at the time I was really busy and didnt want the hassle. Remember, most, if not all, Bendpak stuff is made in China....and it shows. Most Bendpak stuff is Chinese junk. Their tire machines are kindof junky but the balancers are straight up Chinese garbage.

That's what seems to be the case. I normally choose to buy once cry once, however a new coats set is like 8k easy for entry level machines. The couple reviews I've found on the rangers it seemed like folks had problem finding replacement parts.

It seems like you’re being wise and asking the right questions. Ranger units have undergone a huge makeover in the last year from the inside out – not that they were in any way "junk" though, just that we are constantly improving our products. The bashers here are trying to imply that our machines are no better than the Amazon and Alibaba bargain units. That could not be farther from the truth.

If you are willing to share your experience and comments here on this thread, (photos and all) I’d be willing to offer you a brand new Ranger R980AT tire changer (get the assist tower) and a DST30P wheel balancer for $3800.00 with free shipping. (Normally $6500.00) We'll lose money but hopefully you can help reverse public opinion. I'll chalk it up to advertising expense. What you say and share will be totally your call.

You’ll need 220V for the changer though. We no longer offer 110-volt tire changers – except for the 745 entry model. Hope you can make that happen.

If you are nervous I understand, but the offer would stand for the next share-your-story GJ thread poster. But the second person in line would have to have at least 200 other posts on GJ to make it fair. Newbies don't get to participate. You'll get first right of refusal. Offer ends May 31, 2020.

Send me a PM if you're interested.

Hi JSK,

I didn't realize that there was a Bendpak/Ranger rep on the forum.
I appreciate your response. That is encouraging.
I will PM you.

Originally, I had older Ranger 980xr/64t tire machines and was unhappy with the quality of the machines.
After posting my thoughts in this thread, JSK, from Ranger/BendPak, contacted me right away. He stated that they have been working hard to update and improve the quality of their products and he was very concerned that I was unhappy with my machines.
He put me in contact with Dave and Gene at Ranger/BendPak, who were very receptive to my comments and concerns and really seemed to care, (and were just generally really cool guys).
They also assured me that their new machines are a significant improvement in quality compared to what I had and they wanted me to be happy with my tire machines.

They offered me a great trade-in discount on my old machines to a R980AT tire machine and a LS43B balancer, which I accepted with some skepticism.

During the shipping process of the new machines, they stayed in contact with me and I received the machines quickly and without damage. The machines were crated and packaged very well.

I installed the units and have been using them for a couple of weeks now.
My first impressions are very positive. All of the problems I had with my original units have been corrected and the quality is definitely improved. It's obvious they have been listening to their customers and have succeeded at making changes to address customer concerns and suggestions.

The machines work very well and I am happy with their features.

The bottom line is that I have definitely changed my mind about Ranger tire machines and Ranger/BendPak customer service.

All of the people I dealt with at Ranger/BendPak listened to me and were VERY interested in my concerns and feedback.

My R980AT and LS43B installer/balancer have been working great for a couple of weeks now and I would absolutely recommend them.

I will post a long term review in 6 months or so, (based on usage). But based on what I see now and my customer service experience so far, I am confident that I won't have any issues; but if I do, I am confident that they will by addressed quickly.
Needmorespace, if you haven't purchased yet, you can be comfortable buying these machines.

THANK YOU to Jeff, Dave and Gene at BendPak/Ranger!

Here are my NEW machines.

Im looking into purchasing the same set in a week or two. I was wondering how they are handling. I also wanted to ask on the tire machine did you go the air route or the electric route in regards to the clamps.

Also new here so Hey Y'all

Great looking machines. Congrats!

To those worried about parts availability, BendPak/Ranger has been around for a very long time (50+ years) and fully supports their products. I have an old 4 post HD9 that I needed a switch for and even though their new lifts don’t use that same switch anymore I was still able to get the new switch, along with another piece that helped retrofit it into my unit. Anyway, I also want to point out that it’s a global world nowadays and everyone manufacturers stuff all over the world (China and a bunch of other places) and that it’s the company that really makes the difference. That’s why everyone feels comfortable buying Milwaukee products, even though they are mostly made in China now too. BendPak is another great company that makes really good products and, best of all, has excellent customer support. I’ve yet to hear of any issues where BendPak didn’t address a forum members concerns. Hell, just look at how many of us have bought their lifts. I have their HD9 4 post lift, RJ45 jack, a quick jack and a few other Ranger products too.

I recently got a Atlas WB-HS.

Repeatability is as good as I've seen even for higher end units. Remounting and respinning produces the same results time and again.

Definitely recommend it.

I notice if you have the cheaper balancers setup correctly they do a nice job.. I will challenge just about any machine under $5000 to do a better job on late model Toyota Rims/Tires. Then we can move on to Single sided Ducati rims/tires if you pass the first test.

If you can spend the money, look into a Hunter Road Force machine. Has done wonders for my balancing. Got a couple of cheaper ones (The DST 2420 tore up after a year of service and bad calibration issues (mine is red) but was good for the time being just did not last as long, CWB 2410 (something Chinese) is something cheap that we got an auction ($350.00) and has been pretty good on steel wheels and no complaint on other wheels also as we use this balancer on our mobile service truck. A United product AWB 1100 lasted about 3 years. Tire machine, we have a couple that has worked if you are looking for something cheaper the Ranger 980xr has been actually good for the price (we brought another to go on our service truck) its just if something comes loose tighten it up lol because pieces seems to work its way loose with alot of usage on them machines. The rim clamp 7065ex by Coats has been a beast with everyday usage. Not too many problems even though this unit is older than the others. The bead blaster is great if you have good working psi, and it does low pro 22's with ease. If you are doing big wheels i.e. 26,28,30 then look into the Coats 90x, price is higher than most but has been good. We have one at one shop and a Chinese Auto Tool AUT???? from Auto Tool in Florida (company has changed its name now) that has been good but has issues and no repairman even close. Don't know how much better from the Ranger R80EX (might look into one myself. Ranger has a better price and about the same warranty, just up to how close is a service person for your products. Here in Georgia, its easier to get a Coats or Hunter service tech than Ranger, Corghi or Atlas) to Coats 90x.

Stay away from the Ranger customer service is horrible minus is there in four months old to turn table power went out I only have a one year warranty I don’t care they’re not willing to help it’s $1000 to replace the turntable motor for the part only I am not happy with mine I’m not going to repair it seem to be a good quality machine however the company is not willing to back it up so why should I put more money into it.

Looks like I purchased my machine the same time you got yours I have the same or 980at mine wants damaged and shipping however they did send me the replacement parts took a few months was very happy with the machine until today which was one year and four months later however everything worked great until I hit the pedal for the turntable today and it started smoking shooting on sparks and filling my machine with debris customers had witnessed this happen in my shop as I was changing their tires doesn’t look very professional. I called ranger about my concerns with us asked them if they were able to help me out with this and they are for $1000 they will sell me a new turntable motor I’ve only changed around 300 tires with my machine and I’m not happy with the quality or the customer service I received upon asking to speak to the service manager at Ben pack I was told no they had already talk to them they would sell me a new motor for $600 which I still do not find acceptable a $4000 machine is not even paid for itself changing 300 tires and only being in use for one year and four months I find the quality horrible I will not even be repairing my machine as if they won’t stand behind anything why should I spend more money into a piece of junk I say that says it is broken at work very well prior to this but the service that I get from Ben pack is not worth a dime I will never buy another piece of their equipment I hope you take this into consideration when you are purchasing shop equipment through bang pack for customer service or warranties are not worth anything they are horrible.

So....I just purchased a 980xtr and DST30P. The mounter works fine. The balancer is not working correctly and as a mechanical engineer, I'm more qualified to answer questions about the operation of the balancer, than the technical guy I talked to. I balanced my first two tires and it took 2 hours because I was chasing the weight (used most of one free box provided). Try the calibration recommended, no change. I gave up and went to a buddies shop that has a Hunter balancer and was done in 10 min. I sent the JSK person (looks like the CEO) on the thread a PM to see if I can get help. When I called the sales rep for help, they claimed they had to review our conversations (did not know I was being recorded on the phone) to see what was said/promised. Turns out I clearly communicated what I needed, however, they are charging me freight to return the item and not helping with the one they said I needed to perform balancing I do in my performance/custom shop which is the LS43B. Therefore, it sounds like I'm going to be another person left out in the cold with an unusable machine. Maybe JSK will help me out. In not, I'll push it in the corner, and by a Hunter.
